Story
Truffles is a 39 lb, four-year-old husky with beautiful ice blue eyes and a thick coat.
Background: She spent nearly four years without proper care before being rescued, foster mom removed hundreds of ticks and started a weight-gain diet.
Spayed in March 2026, she is up-to-date on all vaccines including rabies. She has blossomed into a sweet companion who wants to be wherever you are; in the yard, on the couch, cuddled in bed, she is good on road trips.
She is now good walking on any type of leash and improving every day. Housebroken, requires adjustment period where you keep her on a bathroom schedule. Dogs will have accidents from time to time and we do not expect her to be returned because of that. You wouldn't return your elderly Grandma for soiling her depends.
She tolerates a harness but may try to take it off. Truffles is easy to pick up and carry. Sometimes timid yet gentle, she allows handling, does not bite and shows no aggression toward humans.
With one brushing a week and a monthly bath, you can keep her shedding under control. Her foster mom says her beautiful fur is worth the basic maintenance.
She does best with calm, playful dogs or as an only dog. She is fine with cats pending a cat test with your cat. Truffles doesn't try to escape from the yard, but dislikes being confined or left alone too long. She is more of a people-person.
Truffles is still learning what was never taught to her as a puppy including to trust humans.
Her adoption fee is $500. It is non-refundable and covers her $350 Dakota crate (for her safety and transport), all vaccines, flea and tick treatments, supplies (shampoo, toys, collar, etc).
Diet: She eats a high-quality protein diet including beef, salmon, chicken, or kibble, and will try people food.
Adoption terms: adoption requires a valid ID, current permanent address, at least one reference and breed experience is a plus.
Huskies can be vocal. If adopter does not want to keep her for any reason, she must be promptly returned to her foster in NM.
