Story
Leo is a one year old mixed breed that weighs 38 pounds and looks like a Panda Bear in a dog costume. He is very friendly, doing well on his housetraining and keeps his crate clean. He has a lot of energy and likes to play with the dogs here. He is curious about our cat but leaves her alone. His breed was a mystery so we had a DNA test done and it turn out he is half Bernese Mountain Dog and half Pomsky with a touch of miniature Poodle mixed in!!! We are currently taking applications for him. His adoption fee is $450 and that includes his vetting, microchip and neuter. Please go to the website and fill out an application if you are interested in meeting him. www.susieqdogresq.com

Story
🐾 DODGE is a recent a transfer from another rescue who is the sweetest, best behaved young guy! He's estimated a year old with puppy energy and looks to be some kind of maybe handsome Lab Husky-ish mix, with those eyes. He's fully vetted, and is great with all people including kids 5 and up, as well as other dogs. (He's a little unaware of his size and can get the zoomies, so for this reason only we'd say maybe only a little bigger kids.) He's just got a great temperament and would make an awesome family dog. Dodge is described as a "barrel of laughs and a super fun dog to have around". Housetrained, cratetrained, and super sweet - this one's a keeper! We've learned he's too chasey with cats, so he is looking for a no-cat home. 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue. 💜 Please click PURPLE BUTTON above to apply or go to www.secondhanddogrescue.com/apply and be sure to choose their name from the dropdown to expedite your application!! ✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available. 📌 IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)

Story
🐾 PORTY is a super sweet big ol' lug who loves everyone and would prefer to be touching his person at all times if possible. He was left behind when his owner was evicted and we stepped up for him and took him in - got himfully vetted. We have no idea how someone could leave this sweetheart behind! He's a Husky labby maybe sharpei type mix and weighs in at a healthy 79 lbs of pure love. He's SO easygoing with all dogs he has met and is ready to be someone's new best friend! He's a snuggler and is even great with cats! Someone needs this boy in their life! Story
My mom’s friend adopted Roadie and abandoned him with my parents. My dad is allergic to him so they can’t keep him. He’s a great dog, a bit headstrong, but overall he’s a good dog. Need him rehomed ASAP
