Story
🐾 DODGE is a recent a transfer from another rescue who is the sweetest, best behaved young guy! He's estimated a year old with puppy energy and looks to be some kind of maybe handsome Lab Husky-ish mix, with those eyes. He's fully vetted, and is great with all people including kids 5 and up, as well as other dogs. (He's a little unaware of his size and can get the zoomies, so for this reason only we'd say maybe only a little bigger kids.) He's just got a great temperament and would make an awesome family dog. Dodge is described as a "barrel of laughs and a super fun dog to have around". Housetrained, cratetrained, and super sweet - this one's a keeper! 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue. 💜 Please click PURPLE BUTTON above to apply or go to www.secondhanddogrescue.com/apply and be sure to choose their name from the dropdown to expedite your application!! ✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available. 📌 IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)

Story
🐾 PORTY is a super sweet big ol' lug who loves everyone and would prefer to be touching his person at all times if possible. He was left behind when his owner was evicted and we stepped up for him and took him in - got himfully vetted. We have no idea how someone could leave this sweetheart behind! He's a Husky labby maybe sharpei type mix and weighs in at a healthy 79 lbs of pure love. He's SO easygoing with all dogs he has met and is ready to be someone's new best friend! He's a snuggler and is even great with cats! Someone needs this boy in their life! Story
Meet Graceland, 👋 known to her friends as Grace, Gracie, Gracie Lou, or Gracie Lou Freebush (yes, Miss Congeniality herself 😉). She’s a 5‑year‑old, 52‑lb spunky, sweet, toy‑obsessed husky who’s back with OFR through no fault of her own and ready for a fresh start. 🤗 Grace is full of personality — energetic, playful, independent, and a total people‑lover. 🥰 She greets everyone with enthusiasm and sometimes jumps when she gets excited, but it’s all love. 💖 She’s super friendly, listens as well as a husky can 🤭, and has a joyful spirit that makes her a fun companion. 😍 Grace is spunky and enjoys running and hopping with her foster sibling. 🥰 She throws toys for herself, loves fetch, and will happily test every squeaky toy in the house. 😂 Grace is independent but affectionate and a snuggler. She loves being near her people and has claimed her favorite spot on the couch. 🙌 She is great with cats and does well with playful dogs. She will do best with a dog who won’t challenge her though. She has the husky prey drive — neighborhood bunnies should relocate immediately. 🫣 Grace is 100% potty trained, and she’s not destructive, she has made it very clear that crating is no longer appropriate for her. She becomes increasingly stressed in a crate, so she needs a home that can support a crate‑free lifestyle. Grace will sleep on her dog bed next to the bed, never jumping on the bed. 😉 She’s a clever girl who can jump gates, so her new family should be prepared to manage her safely without relying on crates or baby gates. Grace is a good‑natured, fun, silly, loving girl who enjoys exploring the yard, sniffing the breeze, relaxing outside, and being part of the family. 💞 She’s ready for a home that understands huskies, appreciates her quirks, and will give her the space, structure, and love she deserves. 🫶 If you’re looking for a spirited, toy‑loving, Elvis‑listening, independent sweetheart… 🎉 Graceland might just be your Miss Congeniality. 💕
