🐾 PORTY is a super sweet big ol' lug who loves everyone and would prefer to be touching his person at all times if possible. He was left behind when his owner was evicted and we stepped up for him and took him in - got himfully vetted. We have no idea how someone could leave this sweetheart behind! He's a Husky labby maybe sharpei type mix and weighs in at a healthy 79 lbs of pure love. He's SO easygoing with all dogs he has met and is ready to be someone's new best friend! He's a snuggler and is even great with cats! Someone needs this boy in their life! 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue. 💜 Please click PURPLE BUTTON above to apply or go to www.secondhanddogrescue.com/apply ! ✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available. 📌 IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)

Princess is kind of a misleading name for me.... Cause I am a QUEEN!! I love all my "subjects" four legged and two legged :) i came from the pound, where I was kind of like a Cinderella princess..... I looked very "ruff".... my eyes were dull and scared and my fur was not white or floofy, like it is now! And boy was I SKINNY :( But NOT ANYMORE!! I am now the Princess I was meant to be! I have a glowing white floofy coat, I have the confidence and love to give out and receive... AND I am ready for you and your family to love FuREVER!! I will give you and your family so much love and fun for life! Local adoption fee is $300(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Helene means “shining light”. Helene, as adult husky/shepherd mix exemplifies this with humor & intelligence shining in her 2 different colored eyes. Helene loves to play with toys and other dogs. Her favorite toy, by far is a tennis ball. One might accurately call her obsessed . She will happily chase tennis balls, chew on them, “almost” bring them back to you, then dance away. Even split, goopy tennis balls are treasured until confiscated by her foster mom & thrown away. She will lick & nuzzle with stationary cats, but will chase them if they run. She is a wonderful cuddler, smiles a lot, & is oh, so happy. The more comfortable she is in her home, the more frequently the husky “talk” comes out! - Especially if it is smack talk disagreeing with not getting an additional treat. Helene would be great as a solo dog or as a companion dog to an existing “pack.” Can she be part of your family?
