Story
Meet Duck — the last of his little trio still waiting for a place to call home. 💛Earlier this year, Duck and his two siblings were brought to us after being left in a truck on a warm day. His siblings have since been adopted, leaving Duck behind… and he’s been struggling ever since. Watching him sit alone where his brother and sister used to be has truly broken our hearts.Duck is a little older, a little set in his ways, and we love him for it. He’s quirky, playful, and full of personality. He loves his toys, loves to run, and once he decides you’re safe, he bonds deeply — the kind of loyalty you can feel. He just needs a moment to warm up, and then he’s your boy. He’s good with cats, and while he can be a bit picky with other dogs, slow introductions can make all the difference. Duck would also do well with kids 12 and up who understand how to give him space as he settles in.Right now, being the last one left has been hard on him. He’s lonely, confused, and waiting — hoping someone finally chooses him. We’re desperately wishing that the right person sees his story and feels that little tug in their heart. If you think you could be the one to sweep Duck off his feet and show him what it feels like to be truly loved, please reach out. This boy deserves his happy ending. 🐾💛All cats and dogs adopted from the Chequamegon Humane Association are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped. Story
Meet your future right-hand man. 🐾This handsome Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix is the kind of dog who thrives when life has a rhythm. Breakfast at 7, walk at 7:30, world domination by noon. Structure is his love language. He’s been doing beautifully in the shelter environment and genuinely enjoys having clear expectations. Give him direction and he lights up like he just got promoted. He’s even participated in animal-assisted visits to local nursing homes and handled it like a pro, calm, steady, and soaking up the attention with quiet confidence. He walks nicely on leash, has attended several outreach events without missing a beat, and rides in the car like he’s headed to an important meeting. Toys are his jam. A good squeaky? Best day ever.In the home, he prefers: • No children• No cats• Dog friends with a similar energy level• A consistent routine and firm but fair boundariesHe can be a little territorial about his space, which is why he’ll shine brightest in a structured adult home that understands working breeds and appreciates a dog who likes to know the rules. He’s housebroken and perfectly content being alone during the workday, so if you’ve got a 9-to-5, he’s not going to stage a protest. This guy isn’t chaos. He’s commitment. He’s loyalty. He’s that steady, capable companion who wants a job, a plan, and a person who means what they say.If you’re looking for a smart, fun, toy-loving partner who thrives with leadership and gives his whole heart in return, he just might be your guy.All cats and dogs adopted from the Chequamegon Humane Association are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped.
