She is everything you could want in a companion and is more than ready to find her perfect soft place to land. This super sweet senior girl made it safely to Wisconsin in December after being found as a “stray” in Georgia alongside her buddy, Scooby. Despite wearing matching collars and leashes, they heartbreakingly ended up in a shelter. Scooby has since been adopted, and now it’s Sheeba’s turn to find her happily-ever-after. Sheeba stayed behind in Georgia to complete heartworm treatment after testing positive at the shelter. She handled treatment like a champ and is now healthy, thriving, and ready for a home of her own. Sheeba is likely around 8–9 years old, and while she may be a senior, she has so much love left to give. She is wonderful with kids, great with other dogs, quiet and rarely barks, fully potty trained, and crate trained (though she does not need a kennel). She is easygoing and low maintenance. She walks nicely on a leash, does great at vet visits, and truly never meets a stranger. She is calm, gentle, and happiest simply being near her people. She doesn’t ask for much — just love, comfort, and a cozy place to call home. After a rough start and a long journey to get here, Sheeba deserves her second chance. She is a low-key, super sweet girl just waiting for someone to choose her. After everything she has endured, she is finally experiencing safety, warmth, and consistency—and she’s settling in beautifully. Meet April April’s story is one of survival and quiet resilience. This approximately 2.5-year-old Husky/Pit mix came to the shelter as part of a neglect case. Before her former owner could attend court, they were evicted and surrendered April to the shelter. She had been living outdoors in freezing conditions, relying on a tiny metal trash can for shelter when temperatures dropped to 19 degrees. Despite her past, April is described as a truly great dog by everyone who meets her. She is friendly, loving and is always trying to please her people. She loves to follow her foster around the hosue all day and watches trying to figure out what you are doing. She is very smart, treat motivated and eager to please her people. She will be an easy one to train and learn new tricks. April is dog friendly and gets along with the 4 other dogs in her foster home and has been great in a larger play group. She is more of a dominant female. She is 90% potty trained and will likely be completely potty trained soon. She is good in her crate and doesn't chew on any of the blankets. She will work more on leash walking when the weather gets a little warmer. She recently went shopping in a Sierra store and was a really good girl, so good that a little girl even had her pick out some dog treats. She does great with kids, but might be better for older kids since she could bump into them. She LOVES to get attention and give kisses. She is working on not jumping. She will sleep all night in a crate in your room, or her preference- in bed snuggled up with you. She has done fine with the 2 resident cats at her foster home. Now that she’s arrived in Wisconsin, April is adjusting well and continuing to show what a special girl she is. She’s enjoying the comforts she was once denied and is ready to find either a foster or forever home where she can fully thrive. April at a Glance Age: Approximately 1 year old Gender: Female Weight: Approximately 55 lbs Breed: Husky / Pit mix (best guess) Potty Trained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Leash Manners: Working on it Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Yes April has already endured so much and remained a gentle, loving dog through it all.
