Meet Shelby!Shelby is a beautiful, almost 2-year-old sweetheart who is looking for someone special to help her feel safe, loved, and confident in the world around her. Shelby is a smart, affectionate girl who is still working on building her confidence in new situations and with new people. She may need a little time and several meet-and-greets to feel comfortable, but once Shelby decides you’re a safe person, you’ll see just how loving she truly is. The wonderful thing about Shelby is that she is making great progress with her confidence when people respect her pace and give her the time she needs.Shelby loves to give hugs, cuddle up close, and be right by your side. She has so much love to give to the person willing to earn her trust. She also has a playful, fun-loving side! Shelby loves squeaky stuffed toys, enjoys romping and splashing around in water, and loves going for walks. She absolutely loves learning new commands, too, and she’s super smart!Dogs:Shelby does well with other dogs, and a confident, well-mannered canine companion could be a wonderful fit for her. Another dog may help give Shelby a little extra confidence and show her the ropes as she settles into her new life. While having another dog is not a requirement for Shelby, we think the right canine companion could be a great addition to her new home.Cats:Shelby needs a cat-free home.Children:Shelby is looking for a child-free home.Home Environment:Shelby will need a calm, predictable home where she can settle in at her own pace. Her adopter will need to understand that building trust with Shelby takes time. We are looking for someone who is willing to meet Shelby several times before bringing her home and give her the time she needs to build a relationship and feel comfortable. With patience, consistency, positive reinforcement, and plenty of encouragement, we know Shelby will continue to blossom. She is eager to learn and loves showing off what she can do!Potty Training:Shelby will need continued work with potty training. Her new family will need to be patient and understanding as she learns the routine in her new home.
