Story
Penny was found as a stray--or rather she found herself, sticking close to her Good Samaritan's home until we were able to take her in. Her finder shared that the first time he ever saw her, she was being run off by a pack of dogs. She started sticking around. He tried to not encourage her stay, hoping she would move on or go back home, but one day, he said that he saw her big brown eyes looking up at him, begging for help, and he opened his heart and home to her until we were able to take her in. Because of him, we do know that Penny does well with small children and and not only is she dog friendly, Penny on her intake day vs Penny today are two totally different dogs. During her intake, she was so terrified of leash pressure that it caused her to panic--she even jumped onto our laundry shelf to hide. Now, she walks on a nice loose leash right by your side, and even if she is still cautious, she places so much trust in us that she will still follow along. Penny is an exceptionally adorable wiggler with deep, emotive brown eyes and the cutest wrinkly face you'll ever find. When she's happy to see you (which is always), she wriggles with joy from her head to tippytappy feet. She is a low energy lady, perfect couch potato material as is evidenced by the way she spends her hours as office dog: deep sleep, only waking up to chew her bully stick or bone or to receive some scratches or tummy rubs. She is never destructive, and once she has hopped up on that couch, she is there stay. We are all very fond of this large and gentle sweetheart. Even at her most frightened, she never gets mean. From the way her ears sit to her deep awwoooo-wooo-woooo, she is enchanting. Low energy doesn't mean boring, especially when you're as pretty and full of personality as Penny is. She has even lately begun to engage with me during play; no toys, just us bouncing and running around together.
