Story
Available for Adoption! A few months ago, we found an amazing family for Loki’s brother Hawk, and now it is his turn to find his forever family! Sadly, Loki’s owner was not able to care for him like she had hoped and wants him to have the best life; he is such a loved boy and will be spending his time at a foster until he is adopted! Name: Loki Location of dog: Midland, Ontario Breed: Presa Canario Weight: 80lbs Gender: Male Spayed/Neutered: no, will be at appropriate age Age: 8 months (DOB: July 29, 2024) Energy Level: low-med Medical (shots etc): 1st shots – will be fully vaccinated before being adopted Microchipped: no, will be when neutered Good with dogs: yes, better with bigger dogs – is fostered with 2 females and is loving life! Good with cats: yes Good with kids: dog savvy kids Good with strangers: yes Guarding Issues: yes House Trained: yes Crate Trained: yes Destructive: normal puppy behavior Leash skills: good Okay with manipulations: yes Known commands: sit, stay, no, shake paw, down, fist pump and come Behavior Issues: jumps up when excited Medical issues: no Other Observations: Loki is a pretty laid-back guy. He LOVES his balls and not only will bring it to you to throw for him but will also just play alone with it rolling and bouncing it then going after it. Loki knows how to sit, shake paw, fist bump, lay, down and come. He knows no and quiet but sometimes struggles to listen for long but he tries. Loki gets fed about 2 cups of food at 7am and again at 4 pm. His bedtime is around 8pm. He loves to sleep in his crate on his back with his legs up in the air. Loki has been learning to walk nice and to have good manners in the house. Loki has grown up with two feline friends who he is extremely gentle with. Loki loves to run and jump in the yard. From Loki’s Foster: Loki enjoys chew toys, but they must be robust, virtually indestructible. Loki is neutral when it’s bath time. He doesn’t love it nor does he hate it, Loki will indicate when he’s had enough by trying to get out. Loki doesn’t mind being brushed. Loki is absolutely okay with having his paws wiped clean when he comes back from walks. He hasn’t demonstrated to be reactive to seeing other dogs when out for a walk. He’s reminded to ‘leave it’ and he carries on. Loki is still working on not jumping up on his persons when excited. Also note, his sheer size makes him the ultimate counter surfer, and he has incredible reach. We are working on this as well. He is a good boy, and will seek out some pets by resting his head on your leg. He’s very smart, and responds well to praise and high value treats. He currently gets crated a couple of times a day for naps and chill time. At bedtime, he settles quickly and remains quiet throughout the night. He gets along well with his foster sisters. They have also been teaching him manners. He is very playful. He is absolutely adorable, and loving. Story
MORE PHOTOS/VIDEOS: https://www.facebook.com/TLCRR https://www.instagram.com/taffyslegacycaninerescue https://www.taffyslegacy.com/mila Mila was adopted from animal control in August of 2023 by a friend of TLC's Director, someone they had met years ago in rescue. At the beginning of October, they received a call from animal control as they were listed as the emergency contact for their friend’s dogs. They were informed by the animal control officer that their friend had been taken by ambulance and that she was non-verbal. Unfortunately, their friend ended up having cancer and passed away two weeks later. First impressions: Dogs: Can be reactive to some dogs through her kennel, however we introduced her to Bob and the two of them hit it off immediately. She played rough from the get go and was “boxing” him with her paws relentlessly until he finally gave in and played. Her lack of boundaries with other dogs could get her into trouble as surely not all dogs would appreciate this overzealous playstyle. Cats: Unsure with cats, we will test her once she has settled in. Kids: Though we have not tested her with children we feel she would be best in an adult only home or a home with older dog savvy children. Her tail is a whip and she is a bit of a wild girl. Strangers: Friendly, outgoing, hyper and likes to jump up. Crate: Mila has been having frequent accidents in her kennel despite adequate let outs. We believe she is having accidents as an attention seeking behaviour and we are working to try to fulfill her through play with other dogs, exercise and training to curb this behaviour. Leash: A bit of a wild girl on leash, however she does settle fairly quickly and takes corrections well. Car Skills: Mila travels well and is quiet in the car so long as she is tethered/crated. We feel given her energy level she may be a bit of a pest if left loose. Energy Level: Medium. Mila is an energetic girl, but can be fulfilled through physical activities, such as walks and play, and mental stimulation activities like puzzles. Confidence: Fairly confident, however she would definitely benefit from a confident handler who will advocate for her and continue to build her up. Affection: Mila is extremely affectionate and loves pets, however she is a bit of an unruly puppy trapped in an adult dog’s body and likes to mouth, jump up and is overall a bit rude. Resources: Has not shown any issues with people or other dogs thus far, though we really haven’t had much opportunity to test this around other dogs. Behavioural: Mila is a wild child and as mentioned above, does enjoy practicing rude puppy behaviour (mouthing, jumping etc.). Training: This girl loves food and is eager to train. She is smart and offers behaviours readily. It will not take much to get her on her best behaviour so long as she has a consistent trainer. Best traits: affectionate, playful, silly and fun to train. Needs improvement: Discouraging jumping, mouthing and general bratty behaviour through training. ADOPTION PROCESS: taffyslegacy.com/adoption-process

Story
AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER TO ADOPT OR ADOPTION Cedar finally after 3 years had her chance at a life outside of living in a kennel, and this is exactly what this girl needed. Even though her foster to adopt didn’t work out the way we all hoped, we are also so grateful Cedar got the chance to show a great family how amazing and loyal she is, outside of a kennel. Unfortunately, there have been changes in her foster’s life, which has come down to them not being able to adopt Cedar. With her being out of a kennel and into a home, the last thing we are wanting is for her to be put back in a kennel environment, because of how far she has already come living in a home. Going back into a kennel after being in a home for this long, will set her back HUGE and we don’t want that at all. Cedar is getting older, and she deserves to live the rest of her life being able to love her family and be the best friend she is. This girl has been overlooked for 3 years, and honestly, we don’t get it. We have several wonderful dogs living in kennels, getting overlooked for the younger “easy” dogs, when is it their chance to leave and never look back? Cedar is and will always be one of the rescue favorites, because if you’ve personally met her, you know she has the most loving soulful eyes and a loyalty to her that goes unmatched. Intake Date: April 2021 Adoption Fee: $100 Location: Norfolk County, Ontario Cedar Name: Cedar Age: 5 years old Breed: Mastiff Mix Energy: Low to medium Weight: 90lbs Spay/Neuter: Yes Dogs: yes, with proper introduction, she prefers males Cats: yes, dog savvy cats Kids: Yes, but is more comfortable around older kids 10+ recommended Crate Trained: Yes, but doesn’t really need one House Trained: Yes Any Aggression (food or other): Comes from an abusive past, therefore needs a quieter household with a strong leader who she can trust and feel safe with. She does great with woman, men she is extremely selective and needs more time and patience to bond with them. Other Observations: Cedar is very smart so takes to training very well, which is great as this has continued to help her progress with building confidence. Because she can be timid or shy, she would do amazing in a home with a confident owner. Also, she needs an experienced dog handler to lead her. She cannot be in a hectic home or a home with people who are not gentle with her. Due to her abuse in her pass, a home with hand raising and yelling will cause Cedar to be reactive/protective. In a quiet loving fun home, she’s a character who makes you laugh and is great a cuddling. A home with limited guests is best suited for her. From Cedars Foster: We've had Cedar as a foster now for more than a couple of months. She's been such a good dog! This was our first experience fostering. It's been a time of laughter because we've watched her play more like a little puppy than her actual age. Throwing Herself on the grass and literally doing grass angels all 4 paws in the air. Oh, and this is her most relaxed state is on her back sleeping. It's so funny to see a dog do. She's accompanied on many walks and although never really long ones, she Loves to stop and smell the roses! We had our routine down, out for a pee first thing as my boyfriend was up for work at 530am. Then, I'd go put a pair of pants and she knew it was time for a walk. She'd Wait by the front door for her collar and leash. and just sit patiently. And I mean patient. I've never seen such a patient dog! We would come home after our walk, hopefully she pooped, to make room for her breakfast. And most of the time she did like clockwork! So, I'd come home and it was time to multi-task. Get her breakfast and mine, including my coffee! Her kibble was mixed with a tbsp of coconut oil melted on it. I'd tell her it was going to be so yummy, and she’d come as soon as it was on her mat with fresh water. If she didn't eat it all, I'd have to stir it up a bit so it wasn't all chunked up together. Her day comprised or sleeping under my work desk at home while I work. I knew it was time to go out when she’d wake up. When my boyfriend came home, she was so happy to see him, she tried to jump up as though she was giving him a big hug. This dog has so much love to give. She loves to cuddle!! She slept with us. She had a bed so when things got too hot, she went to the floor or on her bed. A fresh water bowl not far from her at all times. Supper time, so time for me to be done work. She came first. I mixed her kibble with a beef bouillon mix from the pet store with ¼ cup of warm water and stirred it all up. She loves that! After supper, there was another walk for her alone with me or with both my boyfriend and I. But around 7 or 8pm, she'd start to act funny. Yes, she was ready for bed already. It forced us to relax earlier than usual. Have our cuddle time with her. And this dog can sleep! She loves her sleep. She was just the right speed of energy! When she was trying to get our attention, it was when we'd be tired, she'd get her loudest toy and play with it! Yes, just like a child. She is truly a remarkable dog. She has a big heart and recognizes the same in others. She loves to wake up my teenage son in the morning for school and when there is no school. I think mostly she wanted to see what was on his bed as he constantly leaves his dishes there from snacks. I can't say enough good things about Cedar. She was my first foster; she would have been my first dog. She deserves more than we can offer her now with my son having sleep issues which will turn into health issues if not properly addressed and I don't want anything but love to be felt for this dog. She deserves the world.
