Story
Hi, I’m Bella—also known as Bell or Baby Ghoul. I’m three years old, fiercely independent, and happiest when I’m exploring on my own terms. I love long walks, slow hikes, and poking around a fenced yard looking for snacks and treasures. I do best with younger, calm male dogs. My best friend is a 2½-year-old husky mix who’s taught me how to trust humans (a little) and how to play nicely with other dogs. Having a confident, non-reactive dog buddy like him helps me stay brave in new situations. Here’s the honest part: I’m very reactive. I have low vision and anxiety, and I’ve bounced between homes because my fear responses can be intense. I take daily Prozac and Gabapentin and will need to stay on them until my behavioral vet says otherwise. I also have hip dysplasia and a subluxing patella, so I eat high-quality food and take joint supplements to keep me moving comfortably. Training has helped me a lot—I spent five weeks at Paws & Play and finished a six-week beginner course with my foster family—but I still have strict boundaries. I like to sit near you (sometimes even on your lap), but I don’t like to be petted. My foster dad worked for six months to earn a brief two-second head scratch, and only when I’m in the mood. My foster mom has been patient too and, yes, got a few bites along the way. What I really need is an emotional-support human—someone patient and active who respects my space, follows safety guidelines when meeting me, and understands that love doesn’t have to mean constant touch. A quiet home with no kids is essential. If you’re the kind of person who appreciates a one-of-a-kind spirit, I could be your slow-hiking partner and loyal companion—on my terms, in my own time.

Meet Dot – The Sweet Little Chonk Dot is as adorable as they come—short little legs, a big heart, and a personality that shines. She loves to play with other dogs and then waddle over for cuddles with her people when it’s time to rest. Still a growing pup, Dot has all the playful energy of a youngster and all the cuddly charm of a lap dog. We aren’t sure of her exact mix, but we suspect there may be some bulldog in there—whatever she is, she’s 100% cutie. Dot is food-motivated and eager to please, which makes her a quick learner. She’s already working on her crate and potty training and making great progress! Because she’s still so young, Dot will thrive in a home with another dog who can show her the ropes and help her continue learning how to be her best self. With her silly wiggles, eagerness to learn, and snuggly nature, Dot is sure to bring endless smiles to her forever family. Dot is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and ready to find her forever home. Don’t miss your chance to meet this sweet little chonk—she’s ready to steal your heart! *Puppies must go to a home with another adult dog *Adopters must live in Central Indiana, no more than 45 min from downtown Indy *Please visit website for how to adopt: https://sketchymuttsandunderdogs.org/adopt *Please note that we do not operate on a first come first served basis

Story
Meet Junior!  Junior is an 8-year-old American Bulldog mix with a laid-back personality and a heart of gold. He’s been an easy, go-with-the-flow kind of guy in his foster home, getting along wonderfully with other dogs, even those with bigger personalities. He’s tolerant, patient, and enjoys playing when the mood strikes, especially with his dog friends, but is otherwise calm, quiet, and content to relax nearby. He shares toys nicely and shows no signs of guarding, making him a great companion for a multi-dog household. Junior is fully housebroken and does well when left alone. While he’s not crated regularly, he handles it just fine when needed. He may whine a bit at first but settles down without trying to escape. He’s not a fan of car rides, so a home where those are kept to a minimum would suit him best. Because he tends to chase cats, a cat-free home is recommended. He hasn’t been tested around kids yet. Junior does have a few quirks to be aware of. In some new environments, particularly around new people, he has occasionally tried to hump, though this hasn’t been an issue in his current foster home. He can also be a bit stubborn at times and may need encouragement to do things he’s unsure about. At the vet, he gets nervous and may react when being handled, but this is something he’s actively working on. The good news is Junior is extremely treat motivated, which makes training and building trust much easier. With a patient and understanding adopter who can continue to guide him, Junior will make a loyal, easygoing companion. ##2708597##
