Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying.  Thank you for your cooperation. Video link:  https://youtube.com/shorts/FAR980PUO88 FOR ADOPTION! READY TO LEAVE ON OR AFTER MAY 2ND, 2026! Taking applications NOW! Note: Only those with a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply. INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLY: **AT TOP OF APPLICATION, PUT "PUG PUPPIES"!  Please don't put a specific name.  One puppy may get 10 applications while another will have none and it's too confusing for US! As we approve applications, we will call and that applicant can choose from the puppies... and the next approved applicant can choose from the remaining puppies not reserved... and so on until all are reserved.   PLEASE read profile thoroughly BEFORE applying: DOG APPLICATION LINK: http://www.roadtorescuela.org/dog-application RESERVING A PUPPY: If your application is approved you will be contacted by phone.  Specific puppies are only reserved with a $100 deposit once the approved adopter is notified. Boggle (female) Intake date: 4/11/2026 Breed: Pug (daddy is pure-bred Pug);  Momma is Shih Tzu/ Chihuahua mix (Daddy has some strong genes!) DOB: March 12, 2026 Weight on intake:  2.14 pounds Size potential:  unknown – it’s difficult to estimate since we did not see the father.  the mother is roughly 12 pounds.  These pups could be anywhere from 10-20 pounds... keep that in mind when applying... we can NEVER guarantee adult weight so don't come at us if the puppy ends up being 30 pounds!  Know this before sending an application! Adoption fee and vetting: $350, which comes with $50 spay/neuter REBATE coupon redeemable once puppy is spayed/neutered no later than 6 months of age; includes age-appropriate vaccinations (at least two, plus Bordetella); deworming; microchip. Benefactor Dog/Puppy:  When we have a popular dog or puppy, we dub them a “Benefactor Dog”.  A Benefactor Dog will have an above average adoption fee.  In other words, for OTHER dogs where the adoption fee is minimal or waived due to age, health or some other reason (although we’ve likely spent hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars) a Benefactor dog will help us somewhat make up the shortfall.  If this dog has an above-average adoption fee, she/he is a Benefactor Dog. Good with other dogs: yes Cats: yes second Health issues: none found. Biography: PLEASE keep in mind your AGE! Despite what you may want, we want YOU to outlive the pup… not the other way around! Puppies (especially small-breed) can live 15-20 years! We were contacted by a rescue friend who was contacted by a vet clinic about seven, 4-week-old Pug mix puppies that needed rescue.  The mother developed a critical calcium deficiency where she was rushed to the vet twice.  The vet ultimately told her the puppies need to be pulled from her and she needs to be spayed (since this was her second litter).  We went to the home to pick up the puppies and spoke with the owner.  She said as soon as the mother dog's milk dries up, she's going in to be spayed.  She didn't want her to go through this again as it truly scared her and she thought she was going to lose her.  Sometimes, that's what it takes for someone to understand the importance of spaying and neutering.  She was very thankful that we stepped up to help the puppies.   We are going to vaccinate them at 5 weeks (typically it's 6 weeks but since they've been pulled from mom... we are vaccinating a week early because they will lose her immunity).  They will get a second vaccination before leaving us.  THEY WILL REQUIRE MORE... PLEASE READ VACCINATION PARAGRAPHS BELOW!  These pups are so sweet and chubby and precious!  Some are little more shy than others but they are all coming around.  They lived in a tiny cabin in a kennel with their momma so that is what they were used to!  We have the girls in one pen and the boys in another so as to not have too much of a mess in the mornings (they are puppies after all).  They are eating really well and are just precious!  If you've ever been lucky enough to be "PUGGED"... THEN YOU KNOW WHAT WE MEAN!  Get your applications in now...  they'll be ready to leave on or after May 2nd! VACCINATIONS and PROTECTING YOUR PUPPY! Your puppy has NOT been fully vaccinated! While with us, your puppy has been completely protected the entire time. Your puppy has not been outside of their protective puppy pen except to clean. IF your puppy got two (or more) rounds of vaccinations before leaving, then your puppy was released to be with the other non-quarantined dogs. It’s important to keep your puppy away from high-traffic stores or areas where there is a potential that there are unvaccinated dogs or areas where you know there were puppies that have had or have parvo. Parvo is a silent killer and is everywhere... so just like you would a newborn human baby... protect your puppy. Your puppy will require MORE vaccinations which will be discussed at the time of adoption. YOU MUST FOLLOW-UP WITH YOUR VET TO GET YOUR PUPPY ON A SCHEDULE! Parvo is everywhere and IT IS A KILLER OF PUPPIES! You WILL be required to SIGN a contract that you agree to continue the puppy vaccinations until your puppy has been fully inoculated. Be aware… we will follow-up! WHY SO MANY VACCINATIONS? Most people don’t understand why a puppy needs multiple puppy vaccinations so some people don’t go beyond the first set. This is a HUGE MISTAKE. We’ll explain: In the beginning, while nursing, the puppy receives ample immunity from their mother. Once weaned, they are susceptible to dangerous viruses such as parvo, the puppy killer, and distemper… among other things. At 6 weeks they should receive their first round of puppy vaccinations. Why isn’t this enough? Because you don’t know when the mother’s immunity is no longer effective and if they receive it while still with the mother’s immunity, it doesn’t do any good. This is WHY they need to continue with boosters. At some point one or more of those vaccinations will become their immunity. Don’t risk your puppy’s life! While some vets only do three sets, we recommend four sets. If you’ve ever had a puppy die of parvo… it is something you will never ever forget. (Keep in mind we are not veterinarians and cannot give advice, so don’t take our word for it… talk to your licensed veterinarian.) SPAY/NEUTER REBATE PROGRAM: Due to the age of this pet, he/she may not be spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. If this is the case, you will receive a $50 rebate coupon which will entitle you to a rebate of $50 once your pet is spayed/neutered and valid ONLY IF DONE ON OR BEFORE 6 MONTHS OF AGE! It is REQUIRED and part of our adoption contract that all unaltered pets be spayed/neutered no later than 6 months of age and we DO follow up! PUPPIES! Keep in mind, puppies teeth just like human babies and have little sharp toenails. They will also have behaviors that require training. Puppies will cry, chew, bite, mouth, nip, bark, destroy, dig, scratch, etc. The puppy phase lasts about 18 months (sometimes longer), so be sure you ARE READY for the commitment! Don't even think about applying if you have any doubts about raising a puppy... and don't expect children to take care of the puppy... because they won't! This needs to be an adult decision and an adult commitment. POTTY TRAINING: A puppy can only hold their bladder for a short period of time based upon their age. If the puppy is 2 months old, they can hold their bladder for 2 hours; 3 months/3 hours; 4 months/ 4 hours, etc., up to 6 months of age. At about 6 months of age, this time frame stables out. Puppies are a 10-15 year commitment (sometimes longer). Please be sure you are prepared for the life of the puppy! In conclusion, if your puppy is in a responsible home that provides daily structure, training and socialization with people and other pets, your puppy will grow to be a well-adjusted and wonderful part of your family for many years to come. COMMITMENT: Puppies are a 10-15 year commitment (sometimes longer). Please be sure you are prepared for the life of the puppy! Bear in mind your AGE! While life is never guaranteed, we want the odds to be that YOU outlive the puppy, not the other way around. In conclusion, if your puppy is in a responsible home that provides daily structure, training and socialization with people and other pets, your puppy will grow to be a well-adjusted and wonderful part of your family for many years to come. **IMPORTANT NOTES** *We do adopt out of state provided the adopter is willing and able to travel to us once approved. We do not ship or transport our animals and there is no exception to this rule. *All of our adoptable dogs are small, and they are never to be left outside alone, ever! We only rehome our dogs to adopters that plan to have them as inside dogs and part of the family! We do allow adopters with doggie doors, provided there is SECURE fencing. There is no exception to this rule! *NO SMALL CHILDREN!! As with almost all the dogs at NR2R, young children or a very active household is not recommended. Many of our dogs come to us BECAUSE of small children, thus we do not rehome our dogs to homes with babies or young children. KEEP THIS IN MIND IF YOU HAVE VISITING GRANDCHILDREN AS WELL! Even if the children are older, it would depend on the child AND the parent or parents. *HOUSETRAINING: We do NOT guarantee that any of our adoptable dogs are housetrained. While most should be easily trained, keep in mind that they live in a rescue where they have access to the outdoors all day and are inside at night. Even if they were surrendered to us as housetrained, it doesn’t mean they will automatically be housetrained in your home. Housetraining them should be easy in the right home with time, patience, and consistency. *We do not guarantee the age, health or temperament of any of the dogs we rehome. Many of the dogs we take in come from animal control and rarely do we have histories and even when we do, many times the histories are inaccurate. *Only adopters with a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply. If you bring this pet into your heart and home, you will receive in return many years of love, companionship, and loyalty. That’s our guarantee. Other notes: This pet is available for adoption through Ninna’s Road to Rescue, Benton, La. We are 501c3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to rescue primarily small-breed dogs and to re-home them into RESPONSIBLE and CARING forever homes. DOG APPLICATION LINK: http://www.roadtorescuela.org/dog-application Time may be of the essence if you are looking to adopt a specific animal. We do not reserve animals, unless and until we have approved your application, provided the animal is still available at the time we receive your application. The first APPROVED application we receive will be considered. We are NOT a first come, first serve rescue!! We adopt our rescues out to the RIGHT home, not just A home. Only responsible pet owners need apply. Applying to adopt does NOT commit you to the adoption NOR does it guarantee the adoption. CONTACT: Our adoptable pets are updated regularly, but if you want to check the availability of a pet... OR still have questions AFTER reading this profile, message us via our Facebook page. Please indicate the name when communicating with us. www.RoadtoRescueLA.org   “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”  ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~  Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life.  Blessings. Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying.  Thank you for your cooperation. (For more pics, visit nr2r.petfinder.com or www.RoadtoRescueLA.org)   INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLY: PLEASE read profile thoroughly BEFORE applying: DOG APPLICATION LINK:     http://www.roadtorescuela.org/dog-application Mrs. Puggles (female) Intake date:  3/12/2026 (came to us pregnant) Pug Approx 5 years old Intake weight:  14.2 (pregnant) pounds Current weight:  11.10 pounds   Adoption fee:  $250, which includes vetting, microchip Good with other dogs:  yes Cats:  unknown – we do not have cats to be able to test Vetting and other:  c-section at ER vet (altered/ spayed while under), up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, heartworm negative, fecal negative, on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention, microchipped Health issues:  none observed. Temperament:  very sweet, social and friendly - an all-around happy girl! Energy level:  medium Groom needs:  medium maintenance;  check face folds from time-to-time Biography:  Mrs. Puggles came in with Mr. Puggles from animal control in another parish.  We believe Mr. Puggles is the son of Mrs. Puggles.  Mrs. Puggles went into labor on 3/27/2026 but could not deliver so she had an emergency c-section at Valor Emergency Vet.  She delivered 4 puppies but sadly, two never woke up despite the efforts of the staff.   Mrs. Puggles' milk did not drop and so, Michele took one puppy home and Ninna, the other, to bottle-feed.  They are both doing really well.  Poor Mrs. Puggles has had SO MANY LITTERS in her life.  Her teats were huge and long (like straws)... some were upwards of 2 inches long.  It was time for a mommy makeover, so we sent her to our primary vet for a little nip tuck.  She is snatched now!  She was already a happy, social little gal and we think her new body has boosted her confidence even more!  LOL!  Anyway, you can't go wrong with this gal.  She loves everyone.  If you'd like to bring her into your heart and home, we welcome your application! Flat-faced (Brachycephalic) dogs and over-heating:  Brachycephalic dogs are prone to overheating and heatstroke , as their facial conformation prohibits effective cooling. Short-faced dogs should stay cool during hot weather, opting for exercise during early mornings and after the sun goes down rather than during the hottest part of the day. In the southern states, you'll need to really wait until fall, spring or winter.  The summer months in the south, really don't cool enough in morning or evening to take a flat-faced dog for a walk.  You can also help by walking them on a harness instead of attaching the leash to the dog’s collar.  **WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW** *We do adopt out of state provided the adopter is willing and able to travel to us once approved.  We do not ship or transport our animals and there is no exception to this rule.   *Most of our adoptable dogs are small, and they are never to be left outside alone, ever!  We only rehome our dogs to adopters that plan to have them as inside dogs and part of the family!   We do allow adopters with doggie doors, provided there is SECURE fencing and the dog is over 15 pounds.  There is no exception to this rule!   *PREDATORS:    IF THIS DOG IS UNDER 10 POUNDS, the dog is to be monitored and protected when outside at all times!  PREDATOR-THREAT IS A REAL DANGER!  For example, a hawk tried to pick up a Chihuahua owned by a friend visiting Ninna’s house… RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE VISITOR.  Thankfully the visitor was watching the dog and the hawk was wrestled off of the Chihuahua but it did require an ER visit and she is was very lucky to survive.   TAKE IT SERIOUSLY! *KENNELING:  We always recommend kenneling when you cannot supervise your dog.  This helps with housetraining and any destructive tendencies until you get to know your knew addition. DOB: March 12, 2026 Weight on intake:  2.74 pounds Size potential:  unknown – it’s difficult to estimate since we did not see the father.  the mother is roughly 12 pounds. Biography:  PLEASE keep in mind your AGE!   Despite what you may want, we want YOU to outlive the pup… not the other way around!  Puppies or young dogs (especially small-breed) can live 15-20 years! Mr. Puggles came in with Mrs. Puggles from animal control in another parish.  We believe Mr. Puggles is the son of Mrs. Puggles and possibly the daddy to the puppies she is carrying.   Who knows?  We don't... and he's not talking!  Anyway, Mr. Puggles is happy and social and once we released him from quarantine, he wanted to meet everyone... four-legged and two-legged alike!  He went from person-to-person and then dog-to-dog.  If he came across an older dog that didn't like him being nosy...  he didn't take it personally.  He just hopped over to the next dog.  He would love a home with other dogs.  If you don't have other dogs, that's ok;  he can just concentrate on you!  He does fine in a kennel if needed and has somewhat mastered the leash.  If you think Mr. Puggles could be your new BFF (best furry friend), we welcome your application! *KENNELING:  We always recommend kenneling when you cannot supervise your dog.  This helps with housetraining and any destructive tendencies until you get to know your knew addition.
