Story
AMY is a 9 year old, 6.2 pound Poodle surrendered to us after her owner went into a nursing home with dementia. Before coming to us, Amy was living in her home alone and we were happy to bring her in to find a new loving family! AMY is a super sweet and cute little girl. She is definitely a lap dog and will be on your lap 24/7 if you let her! She loves attention and gets jealous sometimes when she is on a lap and other dogs come close. She does not seem to have separation anxiety but follows her foster mom around the house and would be happiest with a person who can spend lots of time with her. AMY gets along fine with the other small dogs in her foster home but was an only in her prior home and doesn't need to have another dog in her new home. We do not know how she would be with cats or kids. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body though and older kids who are familiar with small dogs would probably be fine. AMY had a few accidents when she first got to her foster home but within a couple of days she figured out the routine and it's been an accident free since then. She does well going outside when she is taken out regularly. She walks ok on a leash and would probably fine with or without a fenced yard as long as she is kept on leash and has regular walks. She does have some good energy and likes to run around the yard, but does not like to stay outside too long or without her person. At night, AMY sleeps in the bed with her foster family, curled up under a blanket. She is a perfect little dog for someone who wants a sweet companion! AMY has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, has had a dental cleaning with seven extractions, is heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration.
