Story
Meet Ruben Humphrey!Ruben Humphrey is a 10-year-old poodle / terrier mix (14 lbs) with white silky fur, a curly tail, and the spark of a dog half his age. He came to CAWS after being found as a stray at a local shelter, and he has wasted no time winning over every human he meets. Truly, this little guy has yet to find a person he doesn’t adore.Ruben is incredibly sweet and affectionate. The moment he spots a human, he jumps up hoping for cuddles and attention. He’s endlessly curious and loves exploring every corner of his world.Walks are pure joy for him. With his excited zig-zag trot, he encourages his human to pick up the pace and enjoy the adventure with him. His age may say “10,” but his energy says something much younger.Ruben is an independent guy who’s perfectly happy doing his own thing, but when he’s in the right mood, he enjoys interacting and playing with other dogs. He can sometimes come on a little strong at first, but he’s learned doggy boundaries and has been doing great with his foster siblings, big and small, as he practices polite play. He’d likely enjoy a well-matched canine companion who communicates clearly.Ruben does have some resource-guarding tendencies, particularly with food. He’ll thrive in a home that provides routine, structure, and an adopter who’s comfortable managing mealtimes and supporting healthy boundaries. Ruben loves being near his people and is learning that his crate can be a cozy, safe hangout spot. He hasn’t been cat-tested yet.To meet this spry, snuggly little character, please fill out an application at www.caws.org/adoption-application.CAWS does not place animals on a first-come, first-served basis; we strive to find the perfect home for each animal. His adoption fee is $100. Applications may take up to 72 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped.
