Story
Urgency is now part of my story, as a new law in my country means our refuge can no longer stay open. Finding a home as soon as possible is essential for my friends and me, and I’m hoping my funny, sociable spirit is exactly what you’ve been looking for! Greetings. I am MITZI and here is a little info about me:Breed: Prague Rat TerrierAge: 7 yrsGender: FemaleWeight: 30 lbsHeight: 18 inCountry of origin: Rep of GeorgiaHighlights: Funny, friendly, protective, loyal, very smart, obedient, and sometimes fearful. With a sense of humor and a warm heart, you'll find me quite engaging.Found near the beach after likely being separated from tourists, I was rescued right after being hit by a car. I luckily only a suffered hairline fracture on her upper thigh. I was treated and now have completely recovered. My rescuers could not find my owners. Once I was taken in, I immediately adjusted to my new environment at the refuge and made friends with the other new  dogs who came in. I tend to have short spurts of energy, then like to sleep a lot. I Iike to stay in my crate on warm blankets because I have a tendency to get cold easily, due to my short fur and small size. I have low/no shed type fur.Loves: Eggs, sardines, cheese, chicken, snack sticks, dog-cookies, and toys. With less exuberant big dogs running around the refuge now (having been adopted), I am not so skittish about being run over with them trampling down the stairs over me. I've mellowed a bit being out of my puppy stage now, so not all yappy. Only barking when the others go off too. You'll love my funny personality and I am told I have the most adorable smile.I like to sleep in my crate with the door open. It is like my personal bedroom for naps and treat chewing. I'd do fine with another buddy dog, but am ok with having things all to myself too.One thing is for certain, as a true terrier, you will never have any kind of rodent problem with me around. My journey actually kicked off an entire rescue organization! I'm ready to trade my 'shelter-founding' legacy for a warm spot on your lap now though! Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee. [MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Leishmania, Heartworm, Ehrlichia, & Anaplasma, as well as Giardia, Parvo, Corona & Distemper. ##2589536##

Story
Say hello to Jack! This handsome guy is all about fun!  Jack lives to play with anyone and hasn't met a furry friend or hooman friend that he doesn't love.  As happy as can be, he's bound to keep you in giggles with his playful antics. Jack came to us blind in one eye, and we're not sure how that happened.  Having only one good eye doesn't stop Jack from living every day like it's the best day ever! You know what would make Jack even happier?  A great home, where he can entertain and play his days away in peace and comfort, surrounded by love. <3 Jack is fairly new to us so we will be updating his information as it becomes available.  Don't miss out on learning more about this little comedian! VETTING: Fully vaccinated Neutered/Spayed Dewormed SNAP 4Dx negative (Heartworm, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma) Flea/tick/heartworm prevention No known medical issues or injuries PLEASE NOTE: Jack is currently in Mexico. There will be a $235 fee for transportation to BC. This will be discussed upon approval. ##2410834##
