Story
Pork Chop is a shy, loving little guy who sometimes gets nervous and looks to his people for reassurance. When he’s unsure, he may give you a few kisses, but underneath that nervousness is a very sweet boy who just wants your love and approval. He’s more of a lover than a rough-and-tumble player. He enjoys his toys and will carry them around in his mouth rather than destroy them. He also loves a good game of tug of war with his little sister.Pork Chop has a wonderfully mischievous side. If you put something down, don’t be surprised if he quietly swoops in, grabs it and takes it straight to his bed. If you can’t find something, checking his bed is always a good idea! He has been known to collect things he probably shouldn’t, so keeping an eye on your belongings is important. Most of the time, Pork Chop is calm and relaxed. His biggest excitement comes when his people come home because he is absolutely thrilled to see them. He’s a sweet, affectionate little guy with a playful, mischievous personality who just needs someone willing to give him the reassurance and love he’s looking for.We require professional obedience training from a certified trainer for ALL adoptions. Story
Applesauce is a sweet little girl with a big personality and plenty of sass. She can be cautious and timid, especially when meeting new people. She doesn’t always love meeting new strangers and may hide or bark until she feels comfortable. It can take her a little while to warm up, sometimes even a few days, but once she feels safe, she becomes much more comfortable. She is working on building up her confidence.Applesauce is also very independent. She’s perfectly happy grabbing a toy and entertaining herself or curling up for a nap on her own. But when she wants something, she has no problem letting you know! If she wants to be picked up and put on the bed, she’ll make sure you understand. 😂Applesauce has a fun, confident personality once she’s comfortable and definitely knows what she wants. She’ll need a patient family willing to give her the time and space she needs to feel safe and build trust. We require professional obedience training from a certified trainer for ALL adoptions. Story
Not available for adoption until she's finished nursing her pups - 2nd week of November. Harpoon is a sweet 12-pound mama who came to Boxers and Buddies after being surrendered with several other dogs from the same household. When she arrived, she was caring for her two puppies, who were just one week old.We don’t know much about the life Harpoon experienced before coming into rescue, but we do know that the dogs from this group have had very limited socialization. Because of this, Harpoon may be cautious and unsure when meeting new people or experiencing unfamiliar situations.Harpoon will need a patient adopter who understands that she may need time to decompress and feel comfortable in her new surroundings. Slow, positive introductions to new people and animals will be important, allowing her to build confidence at her own pace rather than expecting her to adjust overnight. As required by our adoption contract, we strongly recommend that Harpoon participate in socialization classes with dogs of a similar size. These classes can help her build confidence, learn appropriate social skills, and discover that new experiences can be positive and rewarding.Harpoon has already been through a lot of change, and now she deserves the opportunity to learn what it feels like to be safe, loved, and part of a family. With patience, consistency, and plenty of positive experiences, we believe this sweet girl can continue to blossomWe require professional obedience training from a certified trainer for ALL adoptions. Story
Boomerang is a 2 year old, 12 pound Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix with a whole lot of personality packed into one little body. And that adorable overbite? We’re completely obsessed.Boomerang came to Boxers & Buddies after being surrendered with several members of his family, including his parents and some of the younger dogs. Now he’s in a foster home, and for the first time, he gets to experience all the fun things that come with being a dog.He loves car rides, walks and exploring new places. He recently went to Tractor Supply and was pretty excited about his little adventure! He pulls a bit on leash, but nothing terrible, and his foster family is working with him. He also prefers a little escort when it’s time to potty, but they’re helping him work on that too.At home, Boomerang is mellow and easygoing. He’s potty trained, not destructive and absolutely loves pillows. 😂 He’d happily spend his day curled up somewhere comfy, preferably near his people. He enjoys having other dogs around but isn't really interested in playing with them. He's more of a “we can hang out together without bothering each other” kind of guy. He does best with dogs 30 pounds and under. And one of our favorite things about him? Boomerang howls instead of barks. He’s discovering walks, car rides, new places, cozy pillows and all the little things that make being a dog so much fun.Now he just needs someone to share it all with.If you’re looking for a mellow little companion with a goofy personality, an adorable overbite and a lot of love to give, Boomerang is ready to meet you.We require professional obedience training from a certified trainer for ALL adoptions.
