Story
Meet Fred! Fred has been through more than any dog should. When he first came to us, he was shut down and clearly hurting. His left eye was no longer working and had to be removed to relieve his pain, and a chronic, untreated cherry eye has left limited vision in his remaining eye. Once he had surgery and medication, we saw a different dog emerge. He’s more comfortable now, and on walks he gets to go cone-free and enjoy using that hound nose. Fred is every bit the typical hound, with his nose to the ground on walks and a medium energy level. But with people, he’s a total sweetheart. He loves to give kisses and gently asks for pets. Fred will need some basic manners training, and he’d thrive with scent games like nose work or tracking to keep that hound nose happy. He’s still choosing to love, and he’s ready for a home that will give him the soft landing he deserves. Could Fred be your guy? Come meet him at Mountain Humane!

Story
🐾 Meet Peanut! ❤️ Peanut is a 2-year-old Shepherd/Hound mix who was surrendered through no fault of her own. She’s a super sweet girl who loves being around her people, soaking up affection, and playing! 🥰 Peanut is nervous in the shelter, so she’ll need slow introductions, patience, and time to feel comfortable and show her true personality. Once bonded, she’s a loving, loyal companion who wants to be part of your world. Peanut is also very protective of her home and people. She’ll let you know when someone is nearby! She would thrive in a home that understands her breed, appreciates her protective traits, and can provide the guidance, structure, and love she needs. 🏡❤️ 🐶 Dogs: Known to get along with other dogs, but this is not guaranteed. Slow introductions are recommended. 🐱 Cats: Known to chase cats and not do well with them. A cat-free home is best. 👧 Children: Known to do well with children but will need slow introductions. Peanut is looking for a patient, loving home that will give her time to come out of her shell. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, loyal girl who loves her people and keeps an eye on her home, Peanut might just be your girl! 💕
