Story
Hi, I’m Maverick. I was a very skinny boy when I first came to Illinois from my home state of Kentucky. I’m slowly gaining weight in my foster home and learning about living life inside a home. I am crate trained but do appreciate the couch or a human’s bed to sleep on, it’s so much more comfortable than the cold, hard ground I once slept on. I heard my foster Mom say I play hard but I also sleep hard – all night long and enjoy a good sleep in cuddled under the blankets. Playing with other dogs is a favorite past time, meeting new people with a tail wag, going to work with my foster Mom – behaving in the office of course, exploring forest preserves and going to dog friendly stores. My perfect home would be one with an owner that likes to be outside, takes me on lots of adventures, car rides, and dog parks because I need and love to run! If you are looking for a handsome gentleman with the love for the outdoors and people, I am your guy. Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Story
Lincoln is a 2 year old redbone coonhound! Lincoln is the mushiest and goofiest sweetest boy. He was bought as a hunting dog and his hunting partner recently passed unexpectedly and Lincoln is ready to be a couch potato. He has NO aggressive tendencies, loves other dogs, kids and is friendly with cats and other animals. He has been around horses, sheep, pigs and chickens. He is a gentle giant. His house skills need some touch ups but I’m sure he’ll learn quickly. He’s okay on a leash but is used to simply tagging along. Lincoln is a mid- maintenance dog. He was born with some shoulder defects that began showing at about 1 year old. He is not on any medication. Vet doesn’t believe surgery would be helpful but thinks that it may cause him some discomfort. There is no way of knowing how/ if at all these defects will affect him as he gets older. A couch to sleep on, and a yard to lay out in the sun would be best for him and we would love to help him find that home!
