Story
Wowzers, Karl is going to be a big boy! He is estimated to be about 8 months old and weighs 74 pounds right now. Here are a few nice facts about him: A goof ball Playful Very engaged with his handler Loves to lean into you Walks nice on leash Loves soft toys, will fetch and return to you Can entertain himself Knows a solid sit Wants to please you Is very responsive and looking for leadership Loves other dogs and would make a great playmate Friendly to everyone he meets Needs a home where any children are at least 13 years old. Karl came to the rescue extremely underweight and in very poor condition and he showed some observed food bowl guarding. He went right into a foster home and after training, building a bond and gaining weight, he is no longer guarding his bowl. His adopter will need to continue to work on this with him though. It will be very important due to Karl’s breed and size that his adopter understands the need to establish themselves as the leader. In his foster home he had zero accidents and seems to be able to hold it for extended periods, such a good boy. If you are interested in Karl and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Meet Prince! This sweet 1-year-old Redbone Coonhound is a big-hearted pup still learning the ropes of life. Prince is basically a goofy, lovable baby in a lanky hound dog body—eager to please, full of potential, and ready to grow into the amazing companion we know he’ll be.Like many young hounds, Prince will thrive with consistent training, lots of exercise, and a family who can help him explore the world with patience and love. While we haven’t tested him yet with other pets, his age and breed suggest he’s very trainable and could do well with the right introductions. If you’re looking for a loyal, friendly, and fun adventure buddy, Prince might just be your perfect match! If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $250, which covers part of the medical care I have received.**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.
