Jimmy is about 10 months old! Our best guess is that Jimmy is a Rottie/Shepherd mix. Jimmy is about 60 lbs and has spent most of his life in a shelter, so he needs a family to be patient while he gets acclimated. A nice, fenced yard would be ideal for Jimmy and another canine companion to help teach him the dos and donts. Jimmy does have one eye that appears to have trauma, and has been examined by a vet, which suggested we just watch for changes as of right now.  It appears he can see out of it.  If you would like to make Jimmy a part of your family, fill out an application at www.barktownrescue.org  JIMMY HAS A SPONSOR, SO IS ADOPTION FEE IS REDUCED TO $100     The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Rocket is people friendly and outgoing but also calm and quiet. He is approximately 2 ½ years old and is believed to be a Rottweiler and hound mix. He is a SURVIVOR! He was abandoned in mid-2022, but with lots of medical intervention and care from Mercer Humane he is a healthy boy and ready for a loving home. Due to his past, Rocket would do best in a home without other dogs or cats. Patience, understanding, compassion, and love are what Rocket needs most as he may have hidden long-term issues based on being abandoned. Rocket has had his preliminary vaccines, is neutered, and microchipped. Don’t you have a place in your heart and home for Rocket? This is Carl he is a sweet heart and loves to cuddle and spend time with you. He doesn’t like being alone and has his favorite ball he loves to play with which will come with him. I will give you a crate, bag of food, and all of his toys. There is also 0$ adoption fee, because I don’t care about any money I just want to make sure Carl gets a good home with someone who has time to work with him. He really does have so much love to give he just can’t be in a home with cats and that is my problem. I got him from someone who was unable to keep him and I didn’t want him to end up in a shelter where there’s the risk of putting him down so I offered to take him but over the last 6 months he hasn’t adjusted to my cats so I’m unable to keep him.

Brody is a distinguished gentleman who would make the PERFECT family dog! He is estimated to be around 6- 7 years old. His DNA results show he is a Boxer/Hound/Lab mix. Brody is UTD on his yearly vaccinations, heart worm free, neutered, and microchipped. He is so grateful to be in a home with comfort and love, and is looking for the right family to welcome him. His personality is laid back with occasional playfulness, and sometimes he likes to “talk;” but mostly Brody loves to be held. His favorite activities are cuddling on the couch, going on walks, and riding in the car. He LOVES to go on car rides!! ?? Brody crates well when his foster mom is gone for long periods of time, sleeps on a dog bed in the living room, and has learned to play nicely with toys. Brody has been to both Lowe’s and TSC and was a perfect gentleman every time!! Brody does well with children, adults, and both male and female dogs. He isn’t a fan of cats, so he’s looking for a “cat free” family. He's just a gem of a fella and he deserves a loving family to call his own.
