Russian Blue kittens & cats in Saco, Maine

Cassius Clay (or Cash as we like to call him) is an older gentleman with a heart as big as his name. This chill, sun-loving cat has perfected the art of lounging, whether he’s soaking up rays by the window or curled up in a cozy corner for a long nap. He’s calm and dignified, and he’s looking for a peaceful home where he can enjoy his golden years in comfort.Cash gets along with other mellow, respectful cats who understand his need for space and serenity. He’s not into drama, just naps, snacks, and sunshine.Cassius is diabetic, so he’ll need a consistent routine and regular monitoring. Don’t let that scare you, though: he’s a champ when it comes to his care, and the love you’ll get in return is more than worth it. He is currently NOT on insulin, instead, his diabetes is well managed with a low-carb, canned-food-only diet (at the shelter, we feed Fancy Feast Classic Pâté).His adopter must have a well-established relationship with a veterinarian. HART’s Medical Team will train his adopter in caring for a diabetic cat (it’s easier than you think!) and will provide a blood-glucose testing kit and a generous starter supply of canned food. Because of these preparations, Cassius can’t go home the same day you meet him.Cassius also takes fluoxetine once a day to help him get along more peacefully with some of the other cats in his room. His adopter should talk with their veterinarian after adoption about whether he needs to stay on it.If you’re looking for a laid-back companion with an old soul and a loving heart, Cassius Clay is ready to join your corner. 🥊 🐾Please fill out an adoption application at hartofme.org to meet Cassius Clay 🐾Go to our website, www.hartofme.org, to submit your online application today!***FKA = Formerly Known As
