Story
My name is Hero, and here is a little info about me: Breed: Mix Saluki LabradorAge: 1 yearGender: MaleWeight: 28 kgHeight: 22 inchesCountry of origin: Middle EastHighlight(s): A resilient three-legged cuddle bug, ready to bring joy and everyday courage to your home. A little about me: I’m a soft-eyed, three-legged sweetheart who believes every pat is a love letter. If you’re looking for a gentle companion with a brave little heart, I’m your boy. As a tiny pup, I was found by the roadside in the Middle East after being struck by a car. My front leg couldn’t be saved, so it was safely amputated—and I learned to move through the world with grace on three. I’ve lived in a shelter ever since, growing up with the sound of kennels instead of the rhythm of a home. Still, I kept my tail wag and my hope bright. I’m ready for my first true family, a warm bed, and the simple joy of being someone’s dog. I’m affectionate, calm, trusting, and easygoing. I walk nicely on leash, ride politely in the car, and I’m respectful with my things—no chewing, no toy or food guarding, and I’m not a big barker. I love people (women, men, and kids) and I do well with other dogs. I’m the kind of buddy who settles near your feet and checks in with soft eyes: “Need a cuddle?” I’d thrive with a loving family that enjoys gentle walks and cozy evenings. Because I’m a tri-paw, a home with minimal stairs (or a willingness to help me with ramps and rest breaks) would be ideal. I’m wonderfully adaptable—house, apartment, or condo—so long as I have daily strolls, mental enrichment, and lots of love. Another friendly dog would be a bonus, but I’m just as happy being your one-and-only. Energy Level: Low to moderate I get along with:Dogs: YesCats: Unknown (slow, supervised intros recommended)Kids: Yes Hero with kids Fears: None observed so far. Like any rescue, I’ll need patience and consistency as I transition to home life—new noises and routines can take a little time. Training: Leash skills: Some—please continue to help me grow in confidence.House trained: Yes Health notes:Tri-paw (front leg amputation from a puppyhood accident). I manage beautifully—shorter, steady walks and good traction at home help me feel my best.I have been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. While our rescuers always seek a flight without a charge, there is the possibility of a passenger fee, not to exceed $300. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if the dog is shown to be good with children we will approve homes with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.  While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee. [MID EAST DOGS] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. ##2538738##

Story
Update: Hi there everyone! I am a 5 year old saluki/shepherd mix who had been adopted here in Greater Vancouver for about 4 years. I am a playful dog who is also sensitive to my human's feelings, which I show by trying to be physically close to her. I love to play with other dogs and I'm friendly with you humans except young kids. I don't have experience with cats, so it's perhaps best if I live in a home without a cat. I might have a few barks at people who come to visit my home, but with my human's help, I get to know new people quite quickly.  I am being rehomed because my humans are no longer living together and my adoptive mom is unable to keep me due to the demands of her new schedule. I know she will be sad to see me adopted elsewhere, but she wants the very best for me. If you have a nice back yard and perhaps a four footed friend for me to play with I'll be a happy dog.  HISTORY: I was a 9 month old when I was rescued from Bahrain. Check out my adorable ears... OMG! My brother Tango and I were rescued when we were 10 days old. Our mama had been hit by a car and we weren’t going to survive on the streets for long without her. Luckily, some kind souls picked us up and took us to the BARC shelter. We are now living in a foster home with our foster pops and he takes great care of us. Guess what, Foster Pops even wants to help pay for us to come to Canada— isn’t that amazing??  Seeing as I’ve been living in a house with 7 other dogs, I’m very well socialized and am great with other doggies. Not a fan of kitty cats though, so I’d like a feline-free home please! Being a young lad, I can still be pretty bouncy and rambunctious, so probably best for me to go to a home without young children who could get knocked down during my Zoomies. My fosters say I am literally the SWEETEST boy and they would love to keep me if they didn't already have so many dogs!  I can be shy upon first introductions, but after I have some time to warm up to new hoomans, I am a total love bug. I am very intelligent and will probably excel in some obedience training classes! Being a Saluki, I love to run-- so it would be amazing if my new home had a backyard or a big park nearby. I hear spring and summer is coming soon in Canada... so what a grrrreat time to be outside with a pup! I play hard but I also snooze hard too... and that's when I L.O.V.E. to cuddle. Ahhhh to have hoomans to cuddle me all the time... that's a pups dream come true! I was adopted four years ago in Vancouver but due to my adopters divorce I am finding myself homeless again. I am neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped.  My adoption fee is $500 plus taxes Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Story
Greetings. SIMA here. Below is a bit of info about me:Breed: German Shepherd/Saluki mixGender: FemaleAge: 2 years 7 moWeight: 26 kgHeight: ~ 58 cmCountry of origin: Middle EastHighlights: Intelligent, sweet, well-mannered, affectionate, gentle, calm I have a calm presence that melts hearts. My life didn't start as a dog's should. I was just a tiny puppy when my rescuer found me, completely alone in an abandoned, desolate area—no people, no food, no water. I was surrounded by big stray dogs, and I still remember how my little body trembled from fear and exhaustion. I don’t know how long I had been out there, but I was desperately thirsty, painfully hungry, and utterly hopeless. My rescuer knew seeing me that I had been through more than most creatures could handle. She gently picked me up and brought me to safety. That was the beginning of a new chapter of life for me. She had me in a private area for a while, then I went to the shelter later.I have now grown from a frightened pup into the most gentle, affectionate, and graceful soul. I get along beautifully with other dogs and children. Also great on a leash and fully house-trained, I might add. Yup, I am quite intelligent, as well as well-mannered, so I am good at learning. You can see my eyes are soft and warm. Don't you just love my elegant, graceful appearance too? Please, don’t let my story end in waiting. After surviving such a harsh and loveless start, a pupper like me truly deserves a home where I can feel safe, valued, and loved every single day, don't you think? But best of all, I will be able to bestow all the love built up in me on you. Energy level: ModerateI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknownChildren: yes Fears: none observed. Story
Hi everyone, I'm Lennon, and here’s a little about me:Breed: Saluki Shepherd MixAge: 3 yearsGender: MaleWeight: 27 kgsCountry of origin: LebanonHighlights: Affectionate, playful, cuddly, independent, calm With a heart full of love and eyes that have seen too much, I’m patiently waiting for the home I’ve never had.My journey began on the harsh streets of Beirut. I was just a few weeks old—crying, hungry, and completely alone. I didn’t know what safety or comfort meant until the day my rescuer found me. That moment changed everything. I was scooped into kind arms and given food, warmth, and the first glimmer of hope.I’ve been in the shelter ever since. It’s been three long years. Through it all, I’ve stayed sweet, gentle, and full of love. I adore snuggling with my humans and furry friends alike, and I’m always up for some playful fun. I’m a calm, independent soul who would thrive in a home that offers kindness and cuddles.I get along well with other dogs and kids. I haven’t met any cats yet, but my temperament suggests I may do just fine with a proper introduction. I walk on a leash, but may need a little guidance, and I’m not yet fully house-trained, so I’ll need your help learning the ropes in my new home.
