Rocky's Holiday Wish List Meet (Orange) Rocky! Rocky is a shepherd mix who has been waiting at Husky House for his loving forever home for nearly 5 years! Rocky was originally born in Iran, and his first owners physically abused him, including putting out lit cigarettes on his body. Rocky understandably has difficulty trusting new people and can be snappy when afraid, but is very sweet and loving with those he trusts. Rocky spends a lot of time during the day with Sage, a fellow adoptable who has epilepsy, and he is so compassionate that volunteers have witnessed him protecting her from the other dogs when she has a seizure. Rocky is great with other dogs and even lived in a foster home with cats before coming to the US! Rocky needs to continue his leash training, especially in higher traffic areas. Recently, one of our volunteers has been taking him in his car and driving him to go on hikes at Cheesequake park and he does really well! He will need a home with a fenced in yard, so he can relieve himself and get some exercise while he continues to get comfortable on a leash. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Foster Update 11/11/2023: Hello Greyhound Friends, my name is Scotty, though my foster mom calls me Joey because with my ears I look like a baby wallaby! I’m 19 months old, light as a feather at 38 pounds and I’m about 22 inches tall at my withers.   I love to play! I’m still a puppy in many ways. I’m sweet and curious with people and with other dogs. I grew up around cats, too, so I like them as well. See how sweet I am with my foster sister who’s a pit bull! I would LOVE to live in a home with another dog and with human children aged six and older because I’m so playful and curious! I need a fenced-in yard to feel safe and secure when outside. My foster mom takes me out for nice walks on leash, but I can’t help being scared outside because when I was a puppy overseas, I and my siblings were always in “fight or flight” mode.  I am getting much better and love people and I love car rides!! My foster mom can’t keep me, so won’t you take me home? I will be loving addition to a family with kids and another dog, and cats are great too!   Original Posting:Scotty recently arrived from Oman, along with his brother Laddie, both are Wadi dogs. Wadi dogs are from the wadis (dry riverbeds) of Oman. they are typically stray dogs that live in groups and are generally non-aggressive survivors who avoid police interdiction.  They are believed to be a mix of Saluki and other sighthound types. Scotty is striking in appearance and mid-sized--not too big and not too small.  Scotty is a little reserved at first and wants to be with other dogs which makes him much more comfortable. Manny is a handsome guy with a great personality. He loves to run and play. Although he definitely enjoys the company of other dogs, some dogs will tolerate his antics, and some will not. Any interaction between him and other dogs would need to be supervised until it is certain everyone gets along. Like many sighthounds, Manny has a high small prey drive, so potential adopters would need to be mindful of that on walks. He would probably love running critters or birds out of vegetable gardens or vineyards! When he is not running or playing, Manny is perfectly content to be stretched out on a couch snoozing.

Bruno is a happy boy with a sunny personality and a full body wiggle, but he lacks confidence with humans he doesn’t know so well! We have shown this sweet pup to quite a few potential adopters but he has always been too nervous to interact. Bruno is great with other dogs, so we think another pup would be just the thing to make Bruno feel more secure in a new home, and help him shine. Bruno will need to be adopted to a family with a fenced in yard.
