My name is Whitney, and I'm a gorgeous 1-year-old female with the cutest mix of one blue eye and one brown eye, along with a beautiful, fluffy white coat. I'm a delightful blend of Samoyed and Siberian Husky! I'm all about having fun and being an awesome family companion. I absolutely adore children and love joining in on outdoor adventures. I get along great with dogs my size and can even manage with small dogs, but I'm not a fan of cats. I'm an intelligent girl and easy to train! I'm still learning the ropes with leash manners and basic commands, but I'm eager to learn alongside you. I'm expected to weigh around 50 to 60 pounds once I'm fully grown. I'm on the lookout for a patient, loving family who will appreciate my joyful spirit and commit to my training journey. I promise to fill your home with silliness and unconditional love! Oversized teddy bear seeks snuggle partner. Cuddly, smart, and eager to please, swipe right if you can handle this high energy heart with a soft side. Hatchi’s story is heartbreaking — he came into the shelter with his brother, but when their owner returned, they only took his brother… leaving Hatchi behind in a high-kill shelter. He soon found himself on the euthanasia list. Hatchi is now in a loving foster home and is looking for his forever home where he can feel safe, loved, and supported again. Hatchi does require eye drops daily for the remainder of his life. In our dream world, Hatchi would find a human that would help him feel confident and secure in a FINALLY stable environnment.

HI - I'M JOEY! I'm a 1-1/2-year-old beautiful American Eskimo Dog recently rescued from a crowded California shelter. I weigh about 40 lbs. The shelter was a scary experience for me, but I am doing better now that I'm out of there! I love to go on walks and hikes, and I love the water! I'm a beautiful boy who deserves the very best home. Meet Lavender, the malamute mix! Lavender came to the Shelter with her partner in crime Lewis (who is also up for adoption). They were found by a good Samaritan in the roadway in the Santa Cruz Mountains. After their stray hold was complete and no individual came forward to reclaim them, they were evaluated for adoption. Although they came in together, Lavender and Lewis are not required to be adopted together. But if someone is looking for a duo, they could be considered to go to a home together. Here`s what we have learned about Lavender – she is a social gal who is quiet and attentive. She has met some dogs at the Shelter and seems to need a slow, thoughtful introduction when meeting dogs. After meeting another dog-savvy female husky, she was able to coexist in the exercise yards with her and hang out. Any resident dogs should meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. We do not have any history of Lavender with children or cats. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw!Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
