Story
Sweet Isla is looking for her forever home! Please read in entirety!! Isla is a female Samoyed, about one year old. Isla came to SLSR from the Iowa seizure in Spring 2026. Isla is very sweet, but has some puppy mill tendencies, which is not surprising as the situation was similar to a puppy mill, with lack of socialization. Isla is looking for a calm home without kids, as the kiddos energy makes her nervous. Too much going on in the home causes Isla anxiety. Preferably, Isla's forever home would be best to have her people at home more than gone. Isla needs a six foot privacy fence, no exceptions! Isla has learned to climb her fosters four foot fence, and will do so when she sees something she wants to chase outside of the fence. Isla does amazing with other dogs and she has learned to trust her foster mom. Her foster mom works from home, which has helped Isla trust her. Isla is still shy and skittish are people she does not know. She is not the typical Samoyed that will run up to people. She may get there, but it will take time. Isla needs an understanding home that will allow her to progress and continue working on her confidence and training. Isla is in a foster home in the Omaha, Nebraska area. Sweet Maika is available for adoption!!! Please read the whole post, thank you! Maika is approximately 1.5 years old. Maika is a male Samoyed who came into SLSR from the Iowa Dog Seizure in Spring 2026. Maika has opened up so much in the 4 months he's been in our foster home & he's a really sweet guy. Maika still very shy towards strangers, but Maika has become his foster mom's velcro dog! Maika is good at: -Drinking straight from the hose -Cuddling/sleeping in bed -Foot warmer (laying on feet!) -Going on walks, smelling lots and lots of things -Barking when his brothers are barking -Facial expressions (he's very easy to read!) -Cleaning his food bowl -Using stairs Things Maika is still working on: -Coming when called (but he's gotten better!) -Pooping when asked to poop -Meeting strangers without the fear of God in his heart -Staying inside when there is an obvious escape route (he was a door darter for the first couple months, not so much anymore but fosters are extremely cautious with him to prevent an escape) -Eating treats quickly (because he's shy, training has been a bit tough...its hard to get a dog to sit when they'd rather watch you cautiously than take part in the training. He does love food & treats, but has to trust first to take them without caution) -Going in his kennel (his mortal enemy) He has no issues once he's in the crate... he's crate trained aside from his unwillingness to go in to crate on his own accord. For a dog that was literally tied up outside and severely under socialized and neglected, he's turned out pretty spectacularly. Maika will likely never be as outgoing as other dogs, but he's made so much progress!! Maika makes a little progress every single day!! Mindy is very special needs. She is fearful of new people and does not like other dogs. However, she loves whoever takes care of her and probably likes women more than men. If someone has a fenced yard and not a lot of foot traffic into the home, Mindy is very good. She is just not trusting of new people. She loves her caretaker and is very obedient to caretaker. Mindy is completely housebroken. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Someone just needs to know her situation and keep her safe. Mindy needs someone who is experienced with dogs and would be careful with her around people.

Darla is a 7-8 year old American Eskimo. She is very sweet but she is fearful but not aggressive. Darla was part of a hoarding case and was not treated very well. Darla will love whoever takes care of her. She just wants to be loved and cared for. Darla is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and a fenced yard would be nice for her. Darla loves her crate and that will come with her. She is fine with other dogs and cats.
