Story
Lorelai is a bit of a “cat in a dog’s body”Independent, observant, and a little particular. She may take some time to warm up but once she chooses you, she’ll happily follow you from room to room like your own little shadow. She also has some very cat-like habits. She loves sleeping in high places and, if given the choice, will absolutely pick the top of her crate over the inside. She enjoys affection, but prefers it at her pace, which makes building trust with her especially rewarding. Lorelai has a nice balance of energy. She enjoys exploring, but she’s just as happy to relax and hang out nearby. As a hound, she’s also quite talkative and has a deep voice to prove it, so she may not be the best fit for an apartment living. She does well with other dogs as long as they respect her space. She coexists nicely with appropriate introductions. We haven’t tested her with cats yet, but she doesn’t seem to have a strong prey drive. She’s still working on some basics. She’s not fully housebroken yet and will need frequent potty breaks or crate time. She does settle in a crate after an initial barking protest (she likes to voice her opinions first!). She’s also known to try to sneak out the door if given the chance, so a mindful home that can manage door safety is important. Fun fact: Lorelai LOVES chickpeas!

Story
Meet Rory! If you’re looking for a joyful, loving companion who will keep you smiling and moving, Rory is your girl. Rory has a playful spirit and the sweetest personality. She’s full of energy and absolutely loves her walks, running around the park, and afternoon naps. And when the treats come out? You’ll definitely have her full attention! Like a true hound, Rory is wonderfully curious about the world around her. She loves to sniff everything she can find, taking in all the sights and smells like a little explorer. This friendly girl has been wonderful with everyone she’s met on her walks, including people, children, and other dogs. She’s the kind of dog who brings a little extra warmth wherever she goes. Rory also has a charmingly funny side—she’s been known to admire her own reflection, and honestly, we can’t blame her! Rory is crate trained and walks well on a leash. She would thrive in a home with a yard where she can run around to her heart's content. She’s still working on a couple of things, like potty training and keeping her paws off the counters, but she’s incredibly smart and eager to learn. In just one day at her foster's, she learned how to sit and learned not to jump on people—that’s how fast she’s catching on! What really makes Rory special is her combination of sweetness, curiosity, and playful energy. She’s ready to find a home where she can continue to learn, explore, and, most importantly, be loved. If you’re ready for a loyal, fun-loving best friend, Rory is ready to meet you! Rory's heartworm treatment is generous supported in memory of Archie, a sweet pup adopted from our shelter, through our Path to Adoption Fund.
