Story
Kaiden is a sweet boy. Loves people but especially loves to be doing stuff. He isn`t noisy or obnoxious in his kennel - he`s actually a really good boy, he just would rather have something to do. So as little as this kid is, he isn`t really a lap dog - he`s a do everything with you dog! Kaiden would probably be fine with dog savvy kids of a certain age, so 10 and over is probably best to keep up with him! Kaiden came to us from the dog pound where he came in as a stray, so we don`t know much about his background. We do know that he is a resilient pup who deserves better. He does a good job of keeping his kennel clean, is thriving with all of the walks we are making sure that he gets and learning new things every single day. He has a nice level of play and a definite off switch. He is a puppy who would likely excel in dog sports and the like - agility and flyball definitely come to mind for this one! He has an independent side that allows him to think outside of the box, and he needs an owner who appreciates such intelligence in a dog. Bonus is that you will have a brilliant boy who doesn`t even take up much space! Kaiden would probably do best with a female canine companion, but we are willing to see how he does with other boys if needed. Cats are an unknown. If we had to guess we think there may be chasing involved, but it is possible that it could be worked with in the proper scenario. Kaiden is a little fireball who is going to make someone get off their butt and walking the Metro Parks in no time flat - he`s perfect for that job! If you are interested in Kaiden, he will be available soon. In the meantime, we are taking applications under review.

Story
Romeo, Romeo, wherefor art thou Romeo?? RIGHT HERE! Romeo is a 10 month old male Black and Tan Coonhound/Labrador/GSD mix who is ready for a home to call his own! Romeo weighs in at approximately 53 pounds, and is primarily full grown (he may fill out a bit). He came to us all the way from Virginia, and he is the epitome of a smooth Southern gentleman huntin` dawg!Romeo was adopted out when he was a baby, was a loved pet, taken to training classes and generally a happy lad. Nobody knows what happened but he was found as a stray and brought back to the original shelter that adopted him out. So this boy has actually lived as part of a family in a home, and while he has had some backsliding due to all the things he has been through, he has an incredible foundation from which to help him remember what it`s like to have a family. Romeo may have some lapses, but we know that he is responsive to commands, especially when he is reminded what is expected of him. He has experience in a home, so chances are he has a wonderful start on house training, possibly even solid knowledge of what `outdoors` is. He knows basic commands and you can see the wheels turning as he figures out what his brain is telling him. He can be forward on leash, but when verbally corrected, will immediately sit down and think about what you need him to do. He traveled approximately 8 hours to Angels while safely secured in a crate, so he is indeed familiar with the concept of crating. While we wouldn`t recommend him with cats (the breed mix might be just a little too iffy for that), he seems dog friendly (meet and greet required). He is possibly a little too much `puppy joy` for small children, he would do great with older respectable kiddos who can help him by staying consistent and patient with him. Romeo loves water and will relax happily in a baby pool when given a chance - maybe a dock diving star in the making? He is active, energetic, and very much a puppy still. He will do well with an active family who will take him on hikes and long walks and maybe even toss a ball for him in the backyard. This one isn`t a couch potato, but given enough mental stimulation and exercise, he will be thrilled to hang out and watch tv with you when the day is done. Story
Joey is a 10 month old male Puggle (pug x beagle) who is looking for an active but patient home in which he can thrive. Joey weighs in at approximately 22 pounds and is pretty much full grown. Joey found himself displaced due to various health and other issues in the home. Puggles can be very active little dogs, and he is no exception. When it became too hard to make sure all his needs were being met, his caretaker did the right thing by reaching out for a more appropriate placement. Joey is such a good boy - he bonds strongly with people, and while he can take a moment to warm up, once he thinks you are ALLLLLLRIGHT! than you are one of his folks. Joey has lived with other dogs but was described as being `annoying` to them. Since he is a puppy still, it`s likely that some of that came from being a puppy, and to adult dogs, puppies are almost always `brats`! Puggles can also be pretty non stop when it comes to playing and daily life - they`re full of busy activity! This means he would do best with a dog who is close to him in age as well as of a similar energy level. Meet and greet will be absolutely required! He has been around kids of different ages and has done well with them, but as with other dogs, meet and greet is required. He hasn`t lived with cats, but has shown a willingness to chase them mercilessly when he sees them outside - which isn`t abnormal for almost any dog. Things change in the outdoors! We think he can be worked with in the home to behave with cats who are used to dogs in the home. Joey was mostly house trained in his former home, but did have issues with marking in the house. He has since been very recently neutered, and we are hoping that the surgery, along with some remedial House Training 101, will prove that Joey knows better and knows that outdoors in the place to go. He will need to be crated when left alone in the home, no exceptions, until he learns. The alternative is pee squirts around your entire house and nobody wants that. Joey can ride in the car without getting sick, but the whole practice makes him a bit anxious, so if you travel a lot, it may take him a little time to relax into it. We definitely cannot guarantee that he is ever going to be a spectacular ride along partner! He loves water but isn`t a huge one for toys - until maybe his new family can finally find THE ONE TOY that he has been waiting for his whole life! Some dogs do learn to play with toys as time goes on, and Joey mi
