Story
Meet Elephant: The Gentlest Giant with the Biggest Heart!Yes, you read that right—this handsome boy is named Elephant! And just like his namesake, he is incredibly loyal, wise beyond his years, and a total gentle soul. He is also a very high-energy boy, meaning he is always down for a good run, a hike, or a fun training session to burn off some of that joyful, athletic enthusiasm!Because Elephant arrived at the shelter as a stray, his background is a bit of a mystery. We don`t currently know how he does with other dogs, cats, or kids. If you have other pets or little ones at home, we`ll want to take things slow with careful, managed introductions to ensure everyone becomes fast friends. If you notice his eyes looking a little different in his photos, there is a great reason why: Elephant officially just had his entropion surgery! The shelter took care of fixing his rolled-in eyelids, and he is officially on the mend. Now that his eyelashes aren`t irritating his eyes anymore, he is finally seeing the world clearly and comfortably.Elephant is currently rocking a protective cone to let his eyes heal up perfectly. He will need to keep his stylish `cone of shame` on until he is fully cleared, so he is looking for an active, loving forever family who will happily pamper him through the tail end of his recovery. In return for a little extra TLC (and plenty of recovery treats!), he promises to give you a lifetime of devotion, leaning his big body against your legs for scratches, and being the absolute best companion you could ever ask for.Elephant is neutered and has received core vaccinations (bordetella, canine distemper, rabies), flea + tick preventative, has been dewormed, and is microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Elephant, reach out to us at 920-733-1717 or adopt@foxvalleypets.org, or feel free to take a peek during our open hours!
