Story
Hi, I’m Benny! I'm an 8-lb, 8-month-old Poodle. I'm looking for squirrels (to chase), scritches, and a sweet family who will love me forever. Could that be you?
Favorite Things: The outdoors is fascinating to this little guy. He loves to chase squirrels and birds in the backyard. Noises outside (and inside) startle him, though, especially cars and garbage trucks. Above all, Benny LOVES toys. He likes to drop a toy at your feet then take it away before you can get it. He also loves it if you throw him a toy: he'll slide across the floor to retrieve it, then runs full speed back to you. Tug of war is also a favorite game for Benny. After a long day of exploring or playing, he likes to nap with his paws or body touching his person. Benny prefers scratches to petting and will ask for them by jumping in your lap.
Training & Manners: Benny has the makings of a good boy! He is making good progress with housetraining, he is pee-pad trained, but learning that going potty outside earns him treats! He loves car rides, and he sleeps perfectly and peacefully in his kennel overnight. He's just working on a few basic manners, like walking on a leash. (At the moment, he'll walk 5 feet then sit down and look around.) He's also still in his puppy chewing phase.
Health & Care: Benny is a healthy boy! He'll just need his monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog. As a Poodle, he'll also need regular brushing plus professional grooming every 6-8 weeks to ensure he looks his best.
Other Animals: Benny is being introduced to other neighborhood dogs who are his size. Benny hasn't been observed around cats yet, but his foster doesn't think they'd be a good match.
Children: Benny gets along well with calm, respectful children.
Ideal Home: Benny is equally at home in an apartment, condo, or single-family home: anywhere there is someone around who will love him forever!
