Story
There's nothing quite like young dog energy and silliness...and then they put their beautiful heads quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm breath. These very loving and sweet young dogs are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them wandering alone on streets and highways or scheduled for euthanasia in a high-kill shelter that's run out of space. Flower, at just about 2 - 3 years old and a tiny 11 lbs was facing the end of her life before it ever really began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this very sweet girl with the great temperament..they rescued Flower just in time to spare her life. Flower, while initially a bit shy and frightened (a long transport between Texas and Colorado is very scary!) is starting out with great energy. The excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a brand new life. Our wonderful Flower is undeniably beautiful. Her scruffy coat is currently shelter-sad and in need of grooming. Once our gorgeous girl is on a regular protocol of excellent nutrition and loving care, her coat will return to the beauty that her breed mix is known for. We've requested clear new photos and / or videos of Flower. We've not received them at this point (end of year is crazy busy for all shelters and rescuers). Once we are in receipt of new images, we'll update them immediately. Flower, while initially a bit hesitant until comfortable in her new environment, is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's also so loving and cuddly. Our cuddly girl would be very excited to be a couch or bed dog to snuggle with her favorite people at the end of an active day. Flower is SO smart and engaging once comfortable in her home - very typical of a Scottie Dog / Schnauzer mix. Since Flower is just a young girl, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. Flower will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through positive reinforcement / force-free Obedience Classes. This is a regimen of training classes that will make a profound difference in a dog's behavior and her relationship with her people. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. We feel very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement training classes. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Flower out to a home that doesn't choose to offer her this experience. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in your area. We're open to Flower finding her forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart young dog. Flower seems to enjoy her relationships with humans and dogs. We would prefer, however, to place her in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment will create a dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in both a dog and child's development. Flower will be up to date on her vetting / vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. She has also been spayed to support the need for for a euthanasia - free future in the canine population Flower will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 1//3/2026 Applications and inquiries are currently being accepted for this very sweet and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. PLEASE NOTE If you're truly interested in adopting Flower, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.

Story
Baxter was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  ##2616483##
