Story
Meet Scarlett, an adorable 7-year-old Standard Schnauzer (born 2018) with a sweet, gentle personality. She is crate-trained, housebroken, and friendly with dogs and with older children (age 6+). Scarlett has lived comfortably in both a house and an apartment setting.  Temperament & BehaviorScarlett is affectionate, calm, and loves to cuddle—she’s a wonderful lap dog who enjoys attention and companionship. She also has a playful side and loves romping with the resident 10-month-old puppy, so she would do very well in a home with another friendly, playful dog. After playtime, she’s happy to settle in for a nap and maybe even on your lap! She is generally quiet, but will bark when someone comes to the door—this is not due to aggression, but because she learned to alert her previous owner, who was hard of hearing. Around new people, she may bark for a few minutes and then warms up once she knows they’re safe. She has a very sweet demeanor. She hasn’t been around toddlers or very young children, so we recommend older kids in the home. Training & SkillsScarlett knows some basic commands and is very well-mannered in the home. She has had zero accidents and has handled being home for up to eight hours without needing a potty break. She does pull on the leash, so someone physically able to work with her on leash manners is important. Home Needs A fenced yard is needed.  She will go out to potty and come right back in. A home with older children, an active single person, or a couple who can provide love, companionship, and playtime would be a great match. She would enjoy having another playful dog, but she’ll also thrive as the center of someone’s attention. If in an apartment, she'll need to be leashed to go out for potty breaks. Scarlett is a loving, loyal girl ready to bring joy, affection, and companionship to a new family.  Her owner recently passed away, so we would love to find Scarlett a new family! The suggested adoption donation for Scarlett is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.   To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##2601675##

Story
Welcome to rescue, Mimi! Mimi is a Terrier mix, born February 2025.  She will be your shadow and follow you around the house.  MImi loves to be outside and help with yard work!  This girl has athletic ability and can scale a 4' chainlink fence with no problem.  She definitely needs a secure 6' privacy fence to keep her safe in the yard.  She loves playing with toys and enjoys playing with other dogs and cats.  Mimi needs someone who would love to go on occasional walks and she is ready for whatever training her new family can offer.  Mimi would do best if her person is home most of the time or only gone for short periods of time.  Her foster mom does not kennel her when she's left alone and Mimi has not been destructive in the house. Mimi is a parvo survivor and is now parvo free.  She is defnitely ready for her next chapter in her furever home!     The suggested adoption donation for Mimi is $465, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
