Story
Meet Rylee -- 10-year-old Scottish Terrier and True Confident CompanionRylee is a distinguished senior gentleman with a big personality packed into a small, sturdy body. At 10 years old, he is confident, outgoing, and ready to make himself right at home — no warming-up period required. There isn’t a shy bone in Rylee’s body, and he approaches life with quiet confidence and curiosity.Rylee enjoys the simple pleasures: spending time outside, chewing on a good bone, and keeping watch over his surroundings. He’ll happily let you know when someone new enters the building — he takes his “neighborhood watch” duties seriously! When it’s time to relax, Rylee prefers the cool comfort of the bare floor and will happily entertain himself with a frisbee nearby. His energy level is low to medium, making him an easygoing companion who enjoys activity but also knows how to settle. Rylee does well with children, though he can be a little jumpy at times — his small size makes him a great fit for families who can offer gentle interactions.Rylee is a senior and will need some dental care, but he is otherwise in good health and ready to enjoy his golden years in a loving home. After losing his longtime owner earlier this year, Rylee is looking for a place where he can feel safe, loved, and settled — a home where he can continue being his confident, loyal self without missing a beat.Medical & Ongoing Care Needs:As a senior dog, Rylee does have some ongoing medical considerations that future adopters should be aware of. He has cataracts in both eyes and an ulcer in one eye, which will require continued monitoring and care. Rylee is also in need of additional dental work; he has already had several teeth removed and may require more dental treatment in the future. He has known hip and joint issues, with his back knees being especially affected, and will benefit from daily joint supplements and supportive care to keep him comfortable. During his veterinary exam, a possible gingival mass was noted in his mouth, along with another firm, rounded mass in his abdomen. At this time, no additional diagnostic testing has been performed on these masses, and this reflects all medical information currently available for Rylee. If you would like to meet Rylee, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs.
