Story
King is a very sweet and friendly 6 year-old White German Shepherd. He weighs about 75 pounds and needs to gain a few more pounds to be at his perfect weight. He spent almost two years at a shelter, which is very unusual, since shelters are in crisis after the pandemic. The volunteers and shelter staff really liked King and they did their best to extend his time so he wouldn't get put to sleep. While at the shelter, he was very shy and would hide in the back of his kennel when adopters walked by, and that’s the reason why he couldn't find a home: no one got a chance to see him! He is pretty well-behaved in his foster home, not showing any aggression towards people or around food, and having no problem when toys are taken away from him. He is crate-trained and feels safe there, so much so that if the crate door is open, you will find him resting inside the crate by his choice. In his foster home he sleeps in the crate all night and doesn’t make a sound. King loves toys, enjoys carrying them around, and he will bring his toy to his person to initiate a game. He loves attention, so when he wants some attention he will come nudge his person with his nose. He is very gentle with his toys - he licks them , sleeps with them, but doesn’t destroy them. He is an alert dog and will bark if he hears noises. He is good with visitors, too; As long as the door to the yard is open, he goes outside to do his business. In his foster home he has access to the outdoors all day, so he’s had no accidents indoors. . Before ending up at the shelter, King belonged for four years to a family with kids. He was a yard dog, never taken for a walk during all that time, which is the reason for his being shy and skittish outdoors. He never got a chance to learn. We take him out for walks now, but - he is afraid of cars and trucks, so he pulls on the leash to go back home, but slowly, with time and patience, he will learn and become a more confident dog. King is a dominant male. He did ok with submissive dogs, but since all his life , he lived as only dog, so probably best home forhim to be an only dog. Overall, King is a sweet dog that was not given any chance to enjoy life. His world was his yard, and that’s all he knew. Now his life has changed and he has started to learn new things, like the fact that there’s a big world out there and so many things to learn. Even though he is slightly older, it is never too late to learn.

Story
Nelly Mary is the sweetest 4-year-old petite Ridgeback Shepherd-mix, and she weighs 55-60 pounds. She is the friendliest dog ever - loves everybody she meets and her tail doesn't stop wagging. She loves going for walks, is great in the car and has no problem jumping in the back of the SUV. She is housebroken and knows how to use a doggie door. Mary behaves well when left alone and is not destructive. She did great during her vet visit (giving kisses to the doctor) and also does great at the groomer’s. This sweet girl is absolutely adorable and has a wonderful, cute personality that will put a smile on your face. She loves playing with toys - she flips them over, catches them, and she acts delighted at her own prowess. She is a medium-energy dog, loves running in the yard and chasing squirrels. She is not an escape artist and doesn't try to jump the fence. Mary is good with other dogs: she lives in a foster home with a few other dogs and does well with them, but has no interest in playing with any of them. She does wonderful with visitors to the house and is wonderful meeting people on walks. In general she is quiet at home and will only bark in warning. Overall, she is an easygoing, very happy girl. She will benefit from some leash training with her future owner. After years of suffering from a neglected ear infection, Mary was dumped at a shelter by her owners, who denied this poor girl the medical care she desperately needed. The infection had done irreparable damage to Mary's ear, and this sweet girl is now deaf in one ear. After we rescued Mary, she was finally able to undergo a TECA-BO (Total Ear Canal Ablation and Bulla Osteotomy) procedure. Unfortunately, Mary's ear was in such a state of disrepair that the only option for the vet was to remove the infected tissue entirely. Mary's entire ear canal and middle ear were removed, leaving only the ear flap. As a result, Mary is now deaf in one ear. We are devastated that the neglect by Mary's careless former owners has caused her irreparable harm. Overall, Mary is a great dog - an easygoing, happy girl - and someone will be fortunate to have her in their life. Mary is located in Los Angeles. If interested in her please submit an application on our website, www.angelsbarkrescue.org. For questions on Mary please email us at angelsbarkdogrescue@gmail.com The adoption fee for Mary is $300.

Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Jesse is currently with a professional trainer who shared that he has the prey drive of a fieldie and the SPRING in his legs. :) He is definitely a mix, possibly a Sproker. The ideal home for Jesse is one the will give him mental stimulation and physical exercise throughout the day in addition to continuing the obedience training he has been receiving with a professional trainer. He is learning to walk in a heal and respond to corrections when he sees something that is of high interest to him. Jesse "wants" lots of things so will need an experienced adopter who can help him be calm when the want drive kicks in. He is current on vaccinations and will need an obedience savvy home to help him be the best dog he can be. If you are interested in Jesse, please complete the application below and a volunteer will reach out to you.
