Story
Diesel is a 5 year old English Bulldog that weighs about 68lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention. Diesel the weasel is an appropriate nickname since he weasels his way right into your heart. He has a Recto-urethral fistula, which is a birth defect that causes him to leak urine into his rectum from his urethra. Right now, the vet says his condition is stable and doesn't require any intervention, though it may lead to some UTIs down the road. He wouldn't be a bulldog if he didn't require some extra maintenance, right? Due to his issue, we use wipes on his booty every time he goes to potty to make sure he is kept clean. He also has another common ailment in bulldogs...a cherry eye, but it doesn't bother him at all. Diesel is looking for his forever home and the love of a patient ,yet firm family. Diesel is still learning to be a good boy. He needs someone who will continue to work on his boundaries and behavior. This is also very common behavior in bulldogs. When excited, he can be like a little bull in a china shop, so Diesel would be best in a home without young children. Diesel does not like to be crated and would be best in a home that respects that. He has proven to not be destructive when left alone. He does have separation anxiety when his humans leave, but he settles down quickly and then mostly sleeps. He does great in doggy daycare and enjoys being able to hang out with his friends. This has really helped him with his anxiety. He is a big fan of toys and w•a•l•k•s and going anywhere you go! His leash manners are still in the works as well, but he is doing great. This rambunctious guy does have a cuddle bug side and enjoys taking naps with his people and belly scratches. Though he doesn't require daily medications for his anxiety, he may need something to help calm him during storms. He isn't a huge fan of the thunder or any loud noises outside, really. Diesel can be a door darter, so a home with a fenced in yard would be safest for him.  If you would like to give Diesel his forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $350. He is being fostered in New Albany, IN. Approved adopters must be willing to travel to where the dog is being fostered in order to adopt them. Story
Duke is approximately 1 year old. My son found him when he was a puppy. He is moving and needs to find a good home for him. Duke is very smart. He knows the basic commands of sit and shake but follows and catches on to directions quickly. He has been with me for about two weeks and gets along great with my two dogs. He loves to play fetch and makes up his own games with his stuffed animals. He was brought up on a leash but is currently enjoying the freedom of my large fenced in back yard. He uses our doggy door and is house trained. He loves snuggling and attention. He is not crate trained. He loves children. He has been cat tested. He really needs a family or individual that has time to play and show him the love he deserves.
