Story
Gracie is a sweet, friendly, and expressive medium sized girl who loves being part of a family. She gets along well with cats and with other dogs, as long as food time is kept structured. She can be protective of what she thinks is hers, so she does best being fed separately or asked to sit for hand‑fed treats to keep things calm.Gracie is fairly well potty trained with dog‑door access, or if she stays reliable on a consistent potty schedule. She’s a talker with plenty of personality, so she’s better suited to a home that isn’t an apartment.Crating is not her strong suit — she will work hard to break out — so if a crate is ever needed, it must be very sturdy. She thrives in a home where someone is around most of the day and where she can move freely and feel secure.Gracie will be spayed soon, or she can go home under a foster‑to‑adopt arrangement. She’s affectionate, social, and happiest when she has her people close. If you are interested in adopting this pet, please go to www.midwestpetrefuge.com/adopt to complete an application. Story
Velcro earned his name honestly. This fuzzy blonde/apricot poodle mix was found as a stray running after a vehicle in the middle of nowhere, and ever since, he’s made it his mission to never be far from his people again. He’s a total lapdog who wants to be right next to you, all day, every day, and he lights up when his people come home. He’s a genuinely fun dog. Give him a little stuffed toy and he’ll happily play fetch, bringing it right back and asking you to throw it again over and over.At just over 11 pounds, Velcro is easygoing and sweet. He does well around cats and will even try to play with them. He likes other dogs too, but he’s a bit leery of bigger, more boisterous dogs, since he’s small enough to get accidentally stepped on or bowled over during rough play. He’d do best in a home without a large dog, or with careful introductions if there is one. Velcro is very good with nice gentle children. He truly does like them, but being a sensitive soul he quickly become fearful or possibly even nippy with a child that was rough with him. He’s not a fan of being left alone and will let you know about it.House training just takes a little know-how. Velcro is currently living in a home with a dog door he’s not comfortable using, so he does best on a regular potty schedule, leash walks or time in a fenced area. As long as he’s taken out regularly, he does pretty well with keeping his business outside. He’s also got a adventurous streak and loves to explore, so he’s happiest and safest on a leash or in a securely fenced yard rather than roaming loose. That poodle mix coat means regular brushing and occasional trims to keep him comfortable and tangle-free. He does shed a moderate amount, so he isn’t considered hypoallergenic like some poodle mixes.Interested in adopting Velcro?
