You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Callie is a 4-year old tri-black female.  She weighs 27 pounds and has short hair.  She is spayed and ready for her new family. Callie gets along with our male Sheltie. Since she is older and not as active she does get irritated with him and will let him know she has had enough.   She has some  Interest in toys.  I have not seen her around children.  She is reserved and leery of new experiences.  She is still learning to walk on a leash.  She is unsure of hallways and doorways. When she is unsure what to do, she will drop to the ground and roll on her back as a sign of submission.  But, if you need to move her, she is happy to be carried.  Currently, she has to be carried out of the room where the kennel is located to the back door to go potty.  But, once outside that room she will go outside and between the main part of the house independently.  She is very loving and will come to you for attention.  She gives sweet kisses and will whimper when she needs outside.  She is crate and house trained.  She loves car rides and is not scared of storms.  She learns quickly and responds well with treats.  She would benefit from a home with another small dog close to her age.  Callie would love someone willing and patient to help her learn how to navigate new experiences. She is really a sweet dog and will make a wonderful companion.  A fenced, secure yard is required.  Kansas City area adoption only. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.About Shadow Beautiful Tricolor… 32 lbs   A SECURED FENCE IN YARD IS REQUIRED ADOPTION GREATER KANSAS CITY AREA ONLY   Shadow is a happy, attention loving, very stubborn though sweet Sheltie… approximately 4 years old!  Her tail wags continually and she loves giving doggie kisses.  She is house trained and has had a bit more than basic training and thrives on the attention and the direction she receives.    She will need an experienced dog owner to continue working with her… especially on her recall and walking on leash.  She is a talkative girl and will let you know when something is amiss in her surroundings.  At times she can get very intense about barking, and this is where her training has helped a lot.  Keeping on top of her training will be important in her future wellbeing.   She plays well with most dogs though, did not grow up with other dogs so, she would do fine in a home by herself or with another dog that is confident… no young children. She will not be placed in a home where there are young children… she does not like them at all. It appears that she is not reactive to cats so, we can see how she does on a case-by-case basis.   She is crate trained and loves her separate space to be fed and her own sleeping quarters.  Shadow loves her “interactive” toys and figures the puzzles out quickly… I use these toys to keep her busy when I leave the house and it gives her something to focus on while I am walking out the door.  Again, this has been part of her training.  She has other toys she loves playing with and will fetch them, mostly indoors since she has other things to pay attention to outdoors.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 13, 2026, 9:34 pm
