Story
Blizzard is a beautiful 13 month old female Sheltie. She is a double merle, which means she is deaf and partially blind. Despite that, she is a playful and sweet dog who loves to explore and have fun. She is good with other dogs and loves to play with her foster siblings. She also loves getting lots of lap time and attention from her foster parents. Blizzard is very vocal and has lots of opinions to share! She is still learning puppy manners and her play can be a little mouthy, but she's learning. She is pretty much housebroken but still will have an occasional accident. Her perfect home will have another playful dog who can match her feisty and fun personality. She must have a securely fenced yard (required) for safety, and a home where someone is around most of the day to give her all the love and attention she deserves. No children under 12. If you think you could give Blizzard the perfect home, visit our website at www.ncsr-md.org to submit an application. Blizzard is being fostered in Kearneysville, WV. A home visit and application are required before a meet and greet. Our application can be found at our website www.ncsr-md.org. A free virtual training session to get her new owner started by Deb Bauer of "Your Inner Dog" is included with her adoption fee.

Story
This handsome devil is Baxter. He is 4 years old and 30 lbs. Baxter came to rescue after his owner had tried different medications to handle his very young sheltiness. The medications have been stopped under vet care and his true self is shining through! We're keeping a watchful eye on him and so far have seen nothing to indicate he needs to be medicated. Baxter is an active boy, he loves to play fetch, run around the fenced yard barking and chasing whatever he sees. He loves playing with toys as well. He is good with other dogs and enjoys running with them. He would enjoy long walks/hikes and likely would do well with dog sports. Baxter is shy at first but will come around with love and patience. He is partial to women but responds to a kind and gentle man. Obedience classes or an owner with training experience would benefit him by giving him a bonding tool with his adopter and helping him build confidence. Baxter is neutered, UTD on all vaccines, microchipped, house trained, crate trained, walks pretty good on a leash and knows some basic commands. He requires a fully fenced yard and no children under 12. We feel he would do best in a quieter home without a lot of people coming and going. Baxter will be placed in an age and energy level appropriate home. He is being fostered in Kearneysville, WV. An application and home visit are required before a meet and greet Show more

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! UPDATE FROM FOSTER Addie aka "DD" is roughly a 1-2 year old collie mix.  Addie is a sweet, quiet southern girl with a heart of gold!!!  Such an easy going, well behaved, sweet dog!  Everyone who has met Addie has complimented her on her demeanor.  She is so well mannered!!!  Traveled with her foster dad to many public places and loves meeting new people.  Crated & housetrained, good with kids, great on a leash.  She is the true plug and play dog!!  Addie would love to finally find her forever home this year! Well Helloooooo! My name is Addison, and OH MY DOG, am I happy!!! 2nd Chance busted me out of that scary place they call a shelter. I heard them say I was on the “euth list” — at first, I thought maybe that was like some kind of award? You know, like the Dean’s List? NOPE. Turns out, it’s more like permanently expelled… from life. So yeah, I was pretty pumped to hit the road! Me and my brother loaded up into this big ol’ van with a bunch of our new buddies. It was a loooong ride, but honestly? No complaints! We had fans blowing cool air on us, soft blankets to snooze on, and — best part — it didn’t smell like 1,000 wet dogs. #luxury Then we arrived at this magical place where people called fosters were waiting to meet us. And guess what?? We each get our OWN foster families! I feel like I just won Pup Idol. So yeah… something tells me I’m gonna LOVE the North. Stay tuned — more tail wags coming soon!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
