Story
Ronin is an 8 year old deaf and skittish pit bull, he barks at people he don't know about but will hide rather then act aggressive, though when you get to know him, he can be playful, choosing someone he trusts to stay close to. when suddenly pet he might get too nervous and pee a bit before going to run and hide. I've had him for quite some time, but i haven't been able to properly take care of him, and now that I've moved, I don't have the financial stability to fully take care of him. if you are interested, please contact me.

Story
Meet Igor (AKA Iggy)! Iggy came to us as a 10 to 12-week-old puppy back in March. At that time, we weren’t sure if he would make it or if he might lose one of his back legs. He had numerous bite wounds in various stages of infection and healing. (There’s a graphic picture on our Dogs of Del Norte County FB page after his first major surgery.) But Iggy is a true example of resilience. After multiple surgeries, daily debridements requiring sedation, bandages sutured to his skin, and wearing a cone for six months, he battled infections and allergies. He endured daily medications and several weekly medicated baths. Through it all, Iggy never lost his spirit. Iggy is now almost a year old, and weighs 59 lbs. He is dog & kid friendly and loves all the toys. Iggy thrives as the center of attention when he attends adoption events and has amazing radar ears! A fundraiser was started when he arrived, and thanks to donations from our followers and the Humane Society of Del Norte covering the remaining balance of his vet bill, this young pup and his leg were saved! Iggy is now ready for adoption. Iggy is allergic to flea bites/saliva, so he’ll need to stay on long-acting oral flea medication. He’s currently on Credelio, which costs $125 for six months. He’ll also need a couple of baths a month with Viomiox, available on Amazon for about $40 for a 6-8 month supply. There are videos and additional photos of Iggy on our Dogs of Del Norte County FB page. Iggy was chosen to participate in Del Norte Humane Society's Prison Paws Partnership (PPP)! PPP is a 6-8 week program of training for the selected dogs and their inmate handlers at Pelican Bay State Prison. The dog participants are available for adoption through the Humane Society at the completion of the program. If you are interested in Iggy, please contact Del Norte Humane Society! Story
Meet Ginny! We are still getting to know this gal and will keep you updated. She came in missing fur on her back but with a non chicken food, a good medicated bath & flea meds on board she is looking better already. She was spayed last week and is healing well. Ginny is a Pittie mix, about 3 years old and 48 lbs. She has a smooth coat with cute white toes. Ginny wasn't a fan of the crate, but is workable and needs a home with no kitties. Ginny got a day out! This is what her handler had to say, “Ginny made a valiant effort to jump into the truck bed, her hind end was caught and assisted in, maybe with a running start she could have made it on her own. She is an excellent traveler and either sat or laid down during the entire ride. She willingly and eagerly loads into the cab of the truck on her own. Ginny did very well on the 30’ line at the park, never pulling hard and quickly started to bond to her handler. She enjoys affection throughout her body and praise for completing commands correctly. Her recall was good, but not consistent. Ginny was quick to do her business at the park & never made potty mistakes in town or at any of the businesses she visited. She did not react to dogs barking at her from their vehicles and she wanted to meet all people she passed without any aggression issues. Ginny accompanied me through town walking beautifully next to her handler's side, so much so that she was allowed to go lumber shopping. Ginny is a happy and loving dog that will bond quickly and do well with her people.” Come check out our adoptable dogs at 2650 Washington Blvd, Crescent City, CA 95531.
