Story
Meet Aurora ***The first step in the adoption process is to go to www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org to complete the adoption application*** Hi, my name is Aurora! The humans also call me Rory. I am a young dog looking for an active home. The humans say I can't be much over a year old. I love to wrestle with the other dogs for hours. I like people and will snuggle sometimes but really, I just want to play and run with my dog friends! I have a naughty habit of jumping on people, but the humans are working on it while I'm here. I will likely need continued help remembering people don't want to be jumped on. I was adopted once before, and the people said I would get out of the fence and had more energy than was ideal for their family. Unfortunately, my pent-up energy led me to chewing some things inappropriately and jumping more and more. I do well in the fence at my foster home but I'm never alone. I can be cat tested again if my potential home has cats. but the first time I was in foster I was only curious about the cats and never hurt them. I do take a little bit to get comfortable with new dog friends. but once I'm comfortable we will play forever! I don't particularly care for other dogs getting into my kennel messing with my toys or treats. I am comfortable sharing scattered food and sharing toys though! My ideal home would be a very active home with another dog or two to play with! I will need help with leash manners but I am smart as could be so it shouldn't take long to teach me! I would likely be fine with older kids in the home that won't get hurt if I jump on them. I am house trained, and kennel trained. I also know some basic commands!  If you think your active home may be a fit for me, please submit an application so we can meet and see how we get along! Aurora is up to date on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $250.00 November 4, 2024, 8:52 pm

Story
***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** This sweet older gentleman is Steeler.  He found himself in a kill shelter with 2 other dogs that he had lived with after their owner had been incarcerated.   The shelter was asking for assistance in moving dogs out and everyone had been chosen except for Steeler.  Seeing this older guy in a shelter for so many months and then facing euthanasia because there's just not enough homes and too many dogs just hurt our hearts.  So Steeler had the journey into our foster care and now he is hoping for the journey to end with an adoption into a home of his very own.  He is a sweet gentle boy that would love to go on a walk, take a nap or watch a movie with you.  He can hang out with other dogs but he's also good just chillin on his own.  Steeler is a little too excited around the felines so a home with out cats is ideal.  He is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped.  His adoption fee is $150.00 and he would love nothing more than to hang out with you. September 12, 2025, 10:38 pm

Story
Meet Rusty!! This 1 year old petite pitty mix came to us when she wandered into some kind folks barn. Nobody claimed her so now she is looking for her forever home through adoption! Rusty is a high energy gal and will require an active owner that will be willing to bring her on adventures and give her an outlet to run some energy off. Rusty has been kid tested and seems to really enjoy them! She is okay with confident cats. Rusty enjoys other dogs, but tends to be a bit pushy and tries to be “in charge” so a non reactive resident dog might be a good fit for Rusty. Along with a confident owner that has some experience with the bully breeds.    Rusty enjoys toys and playing tug of war, and is getting better with her crate training. Rusty is eager to please humans and we know she will be a fabulous companion for the right adopter, could it be you? Rusty is spayed, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, and microchipped! With an approved application her adoption fee is $275.00October 13, 2025, 6:40 pm
