They tend to be very people-oriented, enjoy having a purpose, and thrive with both mental and physical stimulation. Nola reflects the best of both breeds—smart and capable, yet affectionate, gentle, and deeply connected to her people. Nola’s Story & Personality: Nola is a loving, sensitive girl who bonds closely with her people. While she can be a little shy at first, she warms up quickly with gentle reassurance and kind guidance. Once she feels safe, her affectionate personality truly shines—she loves to be loved on, seeks closeness, and enjoys both playtime and downtime. She prefers female energy and would love to find a home where she can be a true "girl's girl". She can be fine with men, but prefers being around women. She’s mostly leash trained and enjoys going on walks, but she also appreciates a cozy couch session afterward. Nola is very smart and eager to learn, making her a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys interacting and engaging with their dog. Because she can jump a 4-foot fence, a secure 5-foot or taller fenced yard is important so she can safely run, explore, and burn off energy. With the right setup, Nola will thrive as a happy, balanced companion. Nola’s Ideal Home: A home with a secure fenced yard (5 ft or taller) where she can safely run A family or individual who enjoys both walks and relaxed cuddle time Someone patient and reassuring who will help her continue building confidence (she thrives on female energy!) A home that values affection, connection, and gentle guidance Other pets are welcome—she does well with dogs and cats Ready to Give Nola the Love She Deserves? Nola is a beautiful blend of intelligence, gentleness, and affection. Story
Meet Duke — a 4‑year‑old, 78‑lb German Shepherd who is equal parts love bug, couch companion, and backyard adventurer!   Quick Facts: Name: Duke Breed: German Shepherd Age: 4 years old Weight: 78 lbs. House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes (just not near his food or crate) Good with Cats: Not tested Good with Kids: Not tested, but willing to meet some! Energy Level: Medium Fence Required: Yes   About Duke’s Breed: Our best guess is that Duke is a German Shepherd (possible mix). German Shepherds are known for being intelligent, loyal, and deeply bonded to their people, which is why they’re so often described as “heart dogs.” They’re alert, eager to learn, and happiest when they have a purpose — whether that’s going on daily walks, playing in the yard, or simply staying close to their favorite humans. With their mix of confidence and sensitivity, they thrive in homes that understand both their brains and their big hearts.   Their ideal home is one that offers structure, exercise, and meaningful companionship. A fenced yard is often perfect for safe play and exploration, and regular walks help keep their minds and bodies engaged. They do best with families who enjoy including their dog in daily life and who appreciate a loyal, devoted companion. With the right balance of activity, training, and affection, a German Shepherd becomes an extraordinary, steadfast member of the family.   What to Love about Duke: Duke truly believes he’s a lap dog and will happily snuggle beside you (or on you) during TV time! He’s gentle and playful with his foster family’s Aussie, loves carrying toys into his crate, and enjoys snoozing there at night. He can be a little nosey when he wants attention, which only adds to his charm. He would love to be an “only child” or share a home with a respectful, playful dog who doesn’t mind the fact that Duke doesn’t like to share his food or crate.   Duke is potty trained and crate trained, though he’ll give a sad little howl when you leave — just his way of saying he’ll miss you. He settles fine once you’re gone. Because he doesn’t like sharing his food, he prefers to eat in his crate with the door closed, where he can enjoy his meals in peace. He has wonderful play manners, gets along with all dogs, and loves his daily walks. He uses a harness beautifully and enjoys keeping his mind active with exercise and stimulation.   He does need a fenced yard where he can safely run, explore, and chase the occasional squirrel. Duke is excellent with every person he’s met and would likely do well with older, respectful kids after a meet‑and‑greet (he just hasn’t met any yet!). He hasn’t met cats yet, but he’s open to introductions. With a medium energy level, a loyal heart, and an easygoing nature, Duke is the kind of dog who fits seamlessly into family life.   Duke is ready for a home that will give him love, structure, and plenty of time together — a family who wants a devoted companion for walks, backyard play, and saving a spot on the couch for movie nights. He’s truly an all‑around GREAT dog with so much love to give!   Duke’s Dynamic Highlights: 4‑year‑old, 78‑lb German Shepherd who thinks he’s a lap dog Total love bug who snuggles during TV time and stays close to his people Great playmate with gentle manners — especially with medium and large dogs Potty trained and crate trained, though he gives a sad little howl when you leave Loves his crate for sleeping, eating, and brings toys inside to relax (he does tend to “guard” his crate from other dogs) Prefers eating separately in his crate with the door closed so he can enjoy meals peacefully Excellent with all people and open to meeting kids for a gentle introduction Great on a harness and loves daily walks to keep his mind active Needs a fenced yard to safely run, explore, and chase the occasional squirrel Loyal, easygoing, devoted companion who’s ready for couch cuddles and family movie nights   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Story
Beckham is a three-year-old, 55-pound, German Shepherd and Black Mouth Cur Mix. FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED. Beckham is 3-year-old German Shepherd and Blackmouth Cur who weighs 55 pounds. If football icon David Beckham had a dog, we’re pretty sure he’d be a lot like our Beckham. With his classic British name, his ruggedly handsome face and those ever- alert ears, Beckham is an up-for-every-adventure kind of boy. Like his soccer-legend namesake, Beckham just naturally draws a crowd of admirers. Affectionate, playful, brave, and loyal, this smart boy is always ready for a game of ball, a good walk, a spin in the car or just a snuggle on the couch. With so much goodness in his nature, you might ask, “What is Beckham best at?” The answer is simple: Beckham is best at being your Best Friend! And while Beckham can be perfectly content with just you, he will also thrive with an active family, a big, fenced yard and (if it’s not too much to ask) a playful lady dog. Trained by one of the best, Beckham is an absolute joy and had excellent house, crate and leash manners, as well as basic commands and overall happy behavior. So, if you’d love a bit of British flair and fun in your life, please don’t wait. Come meet Beckham today. And let the games begin! Beckham is not part of CrisisDogsNC. This is a courtesy posting on behalf of his foster. This dog is available and everything we know about this dog is included in the dog's description.
