Story
Oh, Libby! This girl is one of the staff’s absolute favorites—and for good reason. Libby is calm in nature but thrives when she receives daily physical exercise and mental stimulation. If she gets bored, she’ll happily find her own entertainment (the garbage has been a past victim), so an engaged home is a must.Libby is a retired Military bomb-sniffing dog and is looking for an adopter with experience handling working dogs. She has impeccable manners, loves going on adventures, and truly shines when given a “job” to do. One of her favorite activities is playing with the massive red ball in our play yards, and she also enjoys “searching” for hidden items.Libby adores children over the age of 6. She is not a fan of other dogs, but if they respect her space, she is generally indifferent to them. She has lived with cats before, though she will chase them if they run, so a confident, dog-savvy cat would be important. Libby does best with a securely fenced, larger yard where she can explore and stay active.Libby has a genetic condition common in German Shepherds called Nodular Dermatofibrosis. This condition causes cysts to form on the skin and kidneys. She currently has a few small cysts on her body and two on her kidneys; however, they are not affecting her kidney function at this time. Libby is on a prescription diet to help support her kidney health and is doing well on it.Libby has given so much in her lifetime—are you willing to give this incredible girl the loving, enriching retirement home she so deeply deserves?
