Story
Moose and Hazard are a magnificent pair of best friends who were brought to the HSOV on October 24, 2024 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden. Moose and Hazard had shared the same home and have been kept in safe-keeping custody since their arrival in our shelter. Both boys are now available for adoption since their owner surrendered Moose and Hazard to the dog warden/HSOV on September 3, 2025 and hopes that they will find a wonderful home with someone who loves them as much as she did. Hazard is a 10-year old male German Shepherd. He has a blond medium-haired smooth coat, a long tail, and a beautiful Shepherd face with dark brown eyes, a slender muzzle, a chocolate brown nose, and extra-large erect ears. Hazard weighed 77 lbs when he entered our shelter. His owner reported that Hazard is NOT good with cats~ Hazard was neutered on January 15, 2025. Moose is a 9-year old male Bull Mastiff. He has a fawn-colored short smooth coat, a docked tail, and a gorgeous Mastiff face with dark brown eyes, a black mask, black shading on his broad muzzle, a black velvet nose, and short floppy ears. Moose weighed 92 lbs when he entered our shelter and was already neutered. Moose and Hazard have shared a large suite in our Safe-Keeping Building since their arrival where they have access to a private outdoor 'patio'. Hazard and Moose are being listed as a Bonded Pair since we feel that it it is their best interest to find another home together. These updated photos of Hazard and Moose were taken on September 28, 2025. Thanks to HSOV Volunteers Jennie Payton Sherrard and Angel Grosklos for accompanying Hazard for more flattering outdoor photos. Since Hazard and Moose are so bonded with each other, Jennie and Angel teamed up to walk the boys together from their 'bachelor pad' in the Safe Haven Building so that they did not have to be separated from each other. Both Hazard and Moose have extra-friendly dispositions and super-sweet personalities. They were in 'seventh heaven' during their photo session and loved being showered with attention from Jennie and Angel. Their previous owner shared this information about Hazard and Moose: "They are amazing and sweet dogs!!! They love cuddles and treats!!! Hazard aka Hazzy is extremely scared of thunderstorms, loves raw green and red bell peppers, they both love watermelon. Hazard loves balls, and squeaky toys. Moose has one stuffed animal which he has loved all his life and you can get it at chewy, because it gets gross and will need replaced after being washed a hundred times. Hazard is a big talker, Moose is very laid back and quiet. They are quite the odd couple, but love each other dearly!!! They are the best dogs in the world!!!"

Hazard is a handsome male German Shepherd who was brought to the HSOV on October 24, 2024 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden along with Moose (a male Mastiff) who had also shared his home. Hazard was approximately 9-years old at that time. He and Moose had been kept in safe-keeping custody. Hazard and Moose have shared a large suite in our Safe-Keeping Building since their arrival where they have access to a private outdoor 'patio'. His owner reported that Hazard is NOT good with cats. Hazard underwent surgery on January 15th 2025 for the removal of a couple of masses on his lower back. He was also neutered and given rabies vaccine while under anesthesia. Hazard is a fairly big boy who weighed 77 lbs on October 24, 2024. Hazard and Moose are being listed as a Bonded Pair since we feel that it it is their best interest to find another home together. Story
Munchkin is a cute female Labrador Retriever/Husky mix puppy who was brought to the HSOV on February 15, 2026 along with her seven siblings (Abyssinian, Birman, Bombay, Devon Rex, Maine Coon, Ragdoll, and Sphynx). These beautiful puppies were found fending for themselves on River Lane near Marietta Ohio. Fortunately a Good Samaritan found these youngsters and brought them to the safety of our shelter. The puppies were estimated to have been 10-weeks old at that time. Munchkin has a sleek black shorthaired coat with white markings on her chest/belly, white toes/paws, a long tail, and an adorable (rather mischievous-looking) puppy face with sparkling brown eyes, a large spot of white above her black button nose, slender muzzle, and short floppy ears. This little playgirl has a lovable fun-loving puppy personality. Munchkin and her brothers/sisters are sharing their very own room in a quiet area of our shelter, and they are always romping/playing to their heart's content. These photos of Munchkin were taken on March 31, 2026. Thanks to HSOV Kennel Techs Liz Stingley and Lauryn Hamilton for assisting each of the puppies with their 'big boy/big girl' pictures that day (and for providing carry-out service to/from their room). Munchkin apparently thought this was a contest to see which puppy had the most playful energy and didn't realize the intent was to take cute still-life photos (smile). Munchkin showed off her 'bungee jumping skills' several times when she bailed off the sofa and demonstrated her zoomies in the lobby of the shelter. Never a dull moment when Munchkin is around~ HSOV is currently accepting applications for these adorable youngsters. They are available for foster-to-adopt with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application .. And they will be spayed/neutered before they are officially adopted by their foster family. Update:Munchkin went home with a foster family on April 11, 2026 who plans to adopt her after she is spayed. Munchkin was returned by her foster family on April 16, 2026 through no fault of her own since they felt she would be a better fit with a family who had an active lifestyle, a large yard, and perhaps a furry friend for a playmate. Update 4/25/2026: Munchkin went home with a foster family this afternoon so that she can enjoy a real home environment while she awaits her forever home .. Munchkin is still available for adoption/ foster-to-adopt with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application. Update 5/2/2026: Munchkin went home with another foster family on May 2, 2026 who plans to adopt her after she is spayed.
