Story
Such a soft, fuzzy cutie! Chopsticks is estimated to be about 2 years old and weighs 28 pounds. Chopsticks is a beautiful girl who is affectionate and very connecting to those around her, however she can be a little cautious at first and needs time to get to know you and build her trust. She can be a little submissive too and tucks her tail when she is feeling unsure about things, so Chopsticks is the type of dog that will need a quiet and predictable home to help her thrive. Once she feels comfortable, she will be your best friend! This smartie already knows sit and place, she can’t wait to have someone spend time with her and teach her all kinds of things. She's an independent thinker and a bit of a loner who'd prefer to hang out with humans than other dogs, if given the choice. Chopsticks does seem to have a bit of a prey drive, so no kitties or small critters in the home for her! She would do best with an active family that can give her the time and attention she needs. She will also need a home where any children are at least 13 years old. Chopsticks is a very sweet girl and is dreaming of a forever family to love her. If you are interested in Chopsticks and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! Story
Are you looking for a dog that might be part cat? Weasel is your guy! He’s independent but affectionate—when he curls up next to you, you’ll know it’s because you`re special to him. Weasel is fully potty-trained, walks well on a leash, and has great house manners in the foster homes he has been in. His favorite things include bones and squeaky toys, lounging in the grass in the sun, and playing with other dogs! Since Weasel has a history of being shy, leaning into his `feline side,` he would need a home without children under 12 and he would love to meet the whole family before he becomes the newest addition to your home. Weasel has been waiting patiently for a forever home. Could it be you?Weasel is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Adopting from foster is easy! Please email adoptions@hshv.org or call (734)662-5585 to arrange a meeting today!
