The poor girl lived on her own for a long time and was terribly afraid of people, although never unkind. Her sadness and fear caught our attention when we saw her photo, and we knew we had to help. Potato has turned into the happiest, brightest, playful gal who loves life. She adores other dogs and would not do well without them b/c they are a support system for her; they would need to be medium to x-large dogs and love to enjoy a snuggle and play buddy. Potato is extremely intelligent and learns quickly. She will need patience and understanding in her new home, knowing it will take time for her to adjust, for she is still afraid of new people and new things. Despite, she has a heart of gold and adores her people, passing out hugs and kisses all the time (and also to her canine buddies!). Potato is a very well behaved dog who has been an utter delight to have in rescue - we adore her! She's our happy little sweet potato. ##1683099##

Attention: This is a courtesy posting only! This pet is NOT available through Mountain Pet Rescue.  Please do NOT contact MPR for information about the pet or apply to adopt this pet on the MPR website.  Contact brownsmith.kirsten@gmail.com for more information or to adopt the pet.Aru is a one-year-old Shiba Inu mix. Born on Halloween, she is everything you want out of a Scorpio: smart, gorgeous, with a killer side-eye. Once you’ve earned her trust, she will melt into squeals and smiles every time she sees you. This little fox is a bone-ifide mountain princess and would be thrilled to join you for hikes, camping weekends or a day at the river. On the days you’re stuck at home with your laptop, she will settle for a walk around the neighborhood and a perch by your best window to watch the squirrels.True to her Scorpio constitution, Aru is a bit skeptical of the world around her. She has been through significant training and puts on a bravely polite face in public, but will do best with a family that respects her need for gentle introductions to new people and dogs. Children are her greatest fear and, while she has learned to tolerate some individual children, Aru needs a home that can buffer her from small humans.Aru is dog-selective but loves to play with her canine friends! She is currently an only-dog but could do well in a home with another calm dog, with enough space and humans who are comfortable working through some resource guarding.Aru has completed the advanced training program through Kabler School. She loves her crate, does well on and off leash and enjoys learning new tricks. She is quite well-trained for her young age, but will require consistency in training to carry these habits with her as she ages. Aru has lifetime access to Kabler’s group training programs, and her wonderful trainers have also offered a couple of private sessions with Aru’s new family to provide consistency.Ready for a new best friend to tell all your secrets to? Give Aru the child-free-by-choice lifestyle of her dreams for the holidays!Contact me today at brownsmith.kirsten@gmail.com to learn more or meet Aru! All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.
