Story
Alaska was a rescue dog that was approximately 1 year old when we adopted her. At that time, we were told the reason that she was surrendered was that she loved to escape and run off. We were told that she could scale tall fences. We have found that to be true over the last 8 years, although she is better about being caught again as she has gotten older. She loves the game coming close to you, then running off again. I've heard that this is common with Shibu Inu. We are both aging and last time I tried to catch her, I twisted my ankle. We believe she would make a wonderful pet for someone younger with more energy. She is incredibly beautiful, and friendly with everyone, and other animals. She is very healthy, we've never had any veterinarian issues. She is house trained. She sheds a lot, so grooming to remove hair is important. We are moving to a newer much smaller house in a colder climate. All of these things make it more important that she be rehomed.

That structure helps me relax, stay calm, and truly be my best, most loving self. I'm highly energetic and thrive with long daily walks and active outings. I have excellent recall, walk beautifully on and off leash, and absolutely love running alongside a bike or cart. If you enjoy movement and adventure, I'm your dog. Social skills? Nailed them. I'm well socialized, love playing with other dogs, and fall right in the middle of the pack - confident, friendly, and easygoing. I also genuinely enjoy human company, playtime, and being part of your daily life.
