STRAY NEW INTAKE - FOUND NEAR CENTERNARY COLLEGE NEW YEAR'S EVE! NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 1/1/2026:   Meesa - female - age:  TBD - weight TBD - Shih Tzu Reason for intake:  We were contacted about this little girl.  The finders found her New Year's Eve near Centenary College in Shreveport.  They contacted us for help.  She is with us now (the picture was taken by finder).  We're not sure if she ran due to the fireworks or was dumped, abandoned, or what.  She does have significant allergies, yeasty skin and missing/thinning hair.  Allergies can be VERY hard to combat so her condition doesn't necessarily mean she hasn't been cared for.  We've notified animal control that we have the dog.  Once her stray is up, we'll send her to the vet for vetting IF no owner comes forward before then.   If you are the owner and notify us that this is your dog TODAY, you won't have to go through animal control to reclaim.  IF you notify us after today, you will be required to reclaim her through animal control during business hours and pay the reclamation fees. NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS:  Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed.  Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining.   In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason.  We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption.  In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered.  Please note…  we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption.  Please wait until the dog is available for adoption.  We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link:  https://www.facebook.com/share/1B46skRWF5/ OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”  ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~  Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life.  Blessings. NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 1/18/2026:  Wagglebottom - female - 3 years old - 6.14 (emaciated) pounds - parti Shih Tzu Reason for intake:  Wagglebottom came to us from animal control.  This sweet girl is literally skin on bones.  She was brought to animal control after wandering by buses at a high school in West Monroe.  She's a hot mess right now but she'll soon be in great shape.  She's heading to our vet next week.  She came in on the 18th but we wanted to keep her for a week before sending her to the vet to give her some good groceries, get rid of the fleas, bathe her, deworm, etc., so that she'll be in better shape for spaying, etc., at the vet.  She'll be heading to the vet the week of 1/26/2026.  Stay tuned!
