Story
Meet Shelby! 10-year-old Shelby was entrusted to us through our Final Wish Program as her mom's condition deteriorated due to an aggressive form of cancer. Shelby was with her mom since she was a puppy, and they enjoyed going for walks and doing everything together. Shelby has been dearly loved her entire life, and it shows in her super sweet and loving personality. To ease Shelby's transition after losing her mom, she went to a foster home shortly after becoming a Frosted Face on October 8th. We received wonderful updates from Shelby and her Foster Mom to mark their six months together! Shelby reports: "I'm the smartest, confident, most adorable, squishy faced, cuddly, 10 year old Shih Tzu. I've been in my foster home six months waiting for the loving, patient forever family I need. I am having a good time soaking in the love and going on adventures! My Foster Mom is constantly telling me how smart, funny, beautiful and sweet I am. I've taught her so much about myself: - SMART ~ I learn everything sooooo fast! I do something once and I got it! I'm blind and deaf. BUT It does not slow me down at alllll!! I can map an area and immediately remember where everything is! I am super confident and get around PHENOMENAL. - Good eater ~ Love my prescription kibbles. I LOVE treat balls, puzzles, snuffle mat, etc. We use my kibble and I'll play forever until I get all my food out! It's such great exercise and stimulation. Still dieting, currently around 22lbs. - No shedding ~ I LOVE being brushed - LOVE to be up on furniture. I use a ramp for the couch and the big bed. - Potty trained ~ Couple walks a day and I'll do my business outside like a good girl. I also have an artificial turf patch on the balcony. - Great on a leash ~ Foster mom calls it the Shelby shuffle. I'm no speed demon, but I love to walk, explore and sniff, sniff, sniff. - Sleep through the night with my foster mom for 10+ hrs. I love to get in bed really early for snuggles and will sleep till you wake me. - LOVE to cuddle. - LOVE belly rubs. - Great in the stroller. - Great in the car. We've taken several roads trips: Big Bear, Palm Springs, Palomar mountain and Mt. Laguna, and did sooo much driving around. I curl up in the back seat and really enjoy just being included with my human's adventures. I was excellent in the hotel room, mapped it quick, and always well behaved for restaurants too. - I flew to Florida for Christmas. I did excellent flying! Pottied on layovers and quietly napped while we flew. - Good with other dogs and cats! In FL for two weeks, I hung out with another little senior and two big young active dogs. Nothing phased me! I often go to a friend's house and hang with seven dogs and cats, and I get along fine with everyone! - Long term meds are three eye drops, two pills, and an ear rinse. I take everything easily! - I'm good for my medicated baths. I get a lot of baths, and my hair is growing in real pretty. - Totally quiet when I know my person is around. However, I get very sad when she leaves me. I do need a forever family that has a lot of patience, is home often and/ or preferably several people in the household for me to love. I really love my people and love to be included in all activities. Again, I am great at adventuring!! So just take me with you!" Shelby's Foster Mom reports: "Shelby is an extremely confident, sweet, smart, funny, loving little girl. She talks and grunts and grumbles to tell me all about things. She keeps me laughing all day! She's so smart and constantly has me in awe of the things she figures out and how quickly. Shelby is spunky, loves to explore and is an absolute pleasure to be around. Shelby is such a happy girl but needs a family that will continue to help her emotionally. She would be thrilled and continue to blossom, ideally with stay-at-home human companions to cuddle." We are so grateful that Shelby has such a loving, understanding foster mom. But, we are still looking for an extra specia forever family who will love her unconditionally for the rest of her years. Might that be you?

Story
Meet Vero! Vero came to us from the San Diego Humane Society - El Cajon on April 1st. He is 8 years old and weighs 14 lbs. Vero is a sweet and gentle cuddle bug! Vero joined volunteers and adoptable Pepper Picnic on an outing to a restaurant and park. He earned this rave review from our volunteer: "Vero is a one-eyed smooshable fluff! He is very soft and snuggly, fun and outgoing. Vero seems familiar with a car - everytime I opened his door he jumped right in! He was a Very Good Boy at the coffee shop. He sat in my lap and didn't beg for food, or he laid down on the floor. At the park, Vero enjoyed sniffing the grass, marking the pee mail, and laying in the shade. Vero and Pepper Picnic were great with new friends at the coffee shop and each other!" Come meet Vero during Open House this Saturday and Sunday between 10:00 and 1:00!

Story
Meet Winston! Winston became a Frosted Face on April 1st after he was left at a local emergency veterinary clinic. He is 15 years old and weighs 13 lbs. His eyes were enucleated right before he came to FFF, and he has fully recovered from surgery. After a much-needed trip to our groomers, Winston is feeling and looking like a new man! Winston spent two weeks on a Frosted Fling while he recovered from surgery, and receiving extra love and care after so much upheaval in his life, helped his sweet personality blossom. "Winston amazes me. I can't believe this boy just lost his sight and his home, and he adjusted so well in my home. I tried walking him on leash, and he walked an entire block with me in a straight line and at a very good pace. He also was an excellent passenger in the stroller. When we got home from his walk, he immediately went to a bed in the bedroom and took a nap without bumping into anything . Winston had a great time at the dog park and walked to every corner of the park to smell. He also bumped noses with lots of dogs there and did great with everyone. Winston is a loyal pup who yearns to be close to any human really. He gave gentle kisses and cuddled with several neighbors. I think Winston do well with someone who works from home or is retired just because he is so much more relaxed when close to someone. Only a few days in to our Fling, Winston started wagging his tail when he heard my voice and slept right next to me all night. Winston deserves a great home and would do well with other pups and cats. He doesn't make a sound except some polite moans as he slowly leans in for an ear scratch." Winston is back on-site and ready for a loving, cozy forever home. Come meet him at Open House this Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 and 1:00!
