Shih tzus carry a gene for wire hair. It's recessive and bred out of the breed and its unusual to have a phenotypically wire shih tzu ("Prapso" Shih Tzu, a natural short-haired variant, which is distinct from the standard long-haired coat). Being the smallest of the 4, she loves to observe and watch what her sisters are up to before jumping in. She is cautious at first but loves cuddles more than anything once she gets to know you. ** Our Puppy Adoption Policy & Senior Adopters** We absolutely adopt to seniors and value them deeply in our rescue community.In fact, we encourage adopters age 70 and older to consider adult dogs (5+ years) — they often form the most beautiful, well-matched partnerships and truly thrive together. Why not puppies? Puppies require many years of intensive care, including: Daily training and socializationSignificant physical activityOngoing veterinary careLong-term contingency planning for the next 15+ years Because of these lifetime needs, we place puppies only in homes where long-term stability and planning can be confidently met.
