Story
Hollie was born about February 16, 2005....yes 2005! and weighs about 8 pounds.    Another email begging for help from an overcrowded Southern shelter.  This time it's a tiny dog that has lived a horrible life for 19 years and then gets dumped at the shelter with her eyes matted shut. The only vet care Hollie had was in 2014 when she was taken to a vet with a 'Fetal membrane hanging from the vagina'  The Southern shelter does the very best they can and got her cleaned up and worked hard to get her out.  We know if we don't step up she will be euthanized never knowing love, happiness, and comfort.  So we agree to take her in.  Hollie has been in foster for a few weeks and is enjoying the feeling of safety and comfort.  She makes little gremlin noises when she feels like being held.  At first, she was only comfortable being held for a few minutes at a time but now she settles in her favorite human's lap for however long that human is sitting. Hollie's sight is limited to shadows and she can not hear.  Hollie can walk or should we say sashay? Hollies left front leg works at odd angles and we have to assume it was broken at one point in her life and healed as is. Her eyes require several drops a day but they no longer cause her pain.  So that's the story of Hollie.  She will stay in her foster home as a hospice case but at least we can sleep easier knowing this almost 20-year-old dog will have known peace and love before she crosses the bridge.   The Adoption Fee for this dog is N/A Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Story
Please contact Jamesa (roxysrescue@yahoo.com), 713-882-2610 for more information about this pet. This cute little boy is ANDY, he was named Raggedy ANDY because he looks so bad full of mats and overgrown hair.  He had been on the streets a long time by no fault of his own.  Someone on a street in San Antonio knew him and his owner.  His owner died and the family put poor ANDY on the streets.  The neighbors felt sorry for him and would take turns feeding him.  Once the winter got cold on a 26 degree night, a friendly neighbor put a sweater on him and allowed him to sleep in their gargage but that neighbor too tossed him back on the streets.  Another neighbor could not stand it any longer and called me to take him in. It took 2 days to groom ANDY with the hard mounds of mats on him and he just sat there very quiet and patiently waiting to get all of the stuff off of him.  Pictures are available. ANDY is 2 years old and 18 pounds and a great little guy.  He really likes following me around but he is pretty independent, not a velcro dog although he does like to cuddle and be close to watch TV.  He walks very well on a leash and does not get car sick and of course he still very well for a bath and to be groomed which he will need to be groomed about every 6-8 weeks. He gets along with the other foster dogs, crate and potty trained.  If you are interested in adopting ANDY please submit an application on the website below.  Thank you. www.roxysk9rescue.org     ADOPTION FEE & APPLICATION REQUIRED   Roxxy's K-9 Rescue does not have a shelter, all of our dogs are raised in foster homes.  Each dog comes  spay/neutered (fixed), rabies shots appropriate for their age, and dewormed twice.  The dogs are up to date on vaccinations according to their age at the time of adoption.  They are microchipped, heartworm tested and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative.  ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE. We transport across the United States. Medical records will come with each dog at the time of adoption. Our organization is run by volunteers/foster parents, please be patient to give us time to respond to your emails and/or phone calls.  We will reply to you.  Thank you.         June 15, 2025, 12:14 pm

Story
Please contact Jamesa (roxysrescue@yahoo.com), 713-882-2610 for more information about this pet. This stout short & stocky guy reminds me of a heavy and strong TANK so that is what I named him.  He is 35 pounds and a medium-small dog that is 5 years old and just built sturdy and solid.  He has a bit of Shih Tzu in him with that Terrier.  Now his personality is just the opposite, he is sooooo well-mannered with a curious behavior.  He follows me around like a student waiting for me to guide him and teach him what to do.  TANK is mellow, very quiet and just goes with the flow.  He never bothers the other foster dogs and they do not bother him.  He is crate and potty trained, walks well on a leash and jumps right in the car ready to go wherever. This guy would be a great first dog or a dog for someone who is not that active because the daily maintenance on him is very low.  He does enjoy a leisurely walk though because he likes to sightsee. We know he is some type of terrier mix but not sure what kind and he will probably need to be groomed every 3-4 months to keep his pretty golden coat looking good. If you are interested in adopting TANK, please submit an application on the website below.  Thank you. www.roxysk9rescue.org   ADOPTION FEE & APPLICATION REQUIRED   Roxxy's K-9 Rescue does not have a shelter, all of our dogs are raised in foster homes.
