Meet Lila!
A bright and affectionate four-and-a-half-year-old Terrier mix currently living in Asheville, NC, whose warm heart and playful energy shine through her sleek tan and black coat with charming white accents.
Weighing in at just 22 pounds, Lila is the perfect size for cozy cuddles and long walks. Her favorite pastime? Playing fetch with her beloved ball, she could chase it for hours with unshakable enthusiasm! Once the games wind down, she’ll gladly curl up next to you for snuggles and belly rubs, soaking in every moment of affection.
Lila is incredibly intelligent and knows basic commands like “come” and “sit.” She’s house-trained, crate-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vaccinations. Her daily routine includes two meals, a walk, and plenty of calm time, she truly thrives on consistency and quiet.
But Lila is also a sensitive girl with very specific needs. Over the past two years, she’s had escalating challenges sharing a home with another dog, including initiating several fights that have resulted in injuries. These stressful interactions have made it clear that Lila needs to be the only pet in her new home. Loud environments, high-energy visitors, and other pets cause her considerable anxiety, and she’s currently on daily medications (Prozac and Gabapentin) to help manage her stress. During especially stimulating moments, like when guests come over, her caregivers also give her Trazodone to help her stay calm.
Though she bonds deeply with her immediate caregivers, Lila becomes anxious around children and requires a calm, child-free environment to feel safe and at ease. She would be most compatible with an adult who has a quiet lifestyle and is ready to offer her the stability and attention she needs to flourish.
Lila may have her quirks, but she also has a huge heart, a deep well of loyalty, and a playful spirit that can light up the room. She’s looking for a patient and understanding pet parent who can give her a peaceful home where she can be the center of attention.
