Story
Hi, I'm Cordelia! I'm a senior lady who has sadly had to come back to the shelter in hopes of finding my last forever home. I was adopted a few years ago and loved dearly but sadly my owner had to go to a nursing home and so I'm back here. I'm a sweet girl but I do have diabetes and a hard time seeing/hearing. Can you give a loving senior girl like me my last home? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop   ##1492386##

Story
Meet Picadilly, a 5 year old 10 pound Chihuahua Pug mix.  Picadilly is full of life and loves life and all that goes with it.  She’s a happy fun curious little girl.  She’s very loveable and she loves to nuzzle her head under your chin. Picadilly gets along well with the other small dogs in her foster home and sees the cat as just another dog.   She gets the zoomies about once a day and after that you will find her sleeping calmly in her dog bed.  After a long day, she enjoys relaxing next to you or on your lap on the couch. She is just learning to walk on a leash, so a fenced yard is recommended to allow her outside for bathroom breaks. Picadilly does tend to be a barker, especially if she sees a squirrel outside the window, so she would probably not be good for apartment living.  She would also be best in a home with older children who will respect her boundaries.  She’s mostly potty trained if she’s let out often.  She sleeps in the kitchen at night with her foster siblings, but I’m sure she’d rather be in bed with you. She loves her toys and her treats.  She does tend to get a little cranky if she thinks another dog might be wanting her food.  After all she lived in a home with 2 large dogs and 3 other small dogs, so I’m sure they had a little challenge all getting enough to eat.  She’s just waiting for her home and could that be you. If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Picadilly’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip.
