🤍🐾 Meet Charleston! 🐾🤍 First things first: please forgive Charleston for his school-picture-style photo. 😂📸 We promise this handsome boy is MUCH cuter in person! Charleston is a 1-year-old cream-colored guy who recently arrived at Homeward Bound with several other cats after they were found in a truly frightening situation. These cats were in danger of being sealed up inside an air duct beneath a mobile home. 😳 Thankfully, someone intervened and got them to safety, and they arrived at Homeward Bound together—literally brought in a box and given a chance at a much better life. ❤️ Charleston hasn't been with us very long, so we're still getting to know this handsome fellow. He's understandably a little introverted while he adjusts to all the changes, but we're already seeing some very promising things. He's: 🐾 Good with other cats 🐾 Playful 🐾 Litter box trained 🐾 A little introverted while he gets comfortable And that means there's still plenty to discover about Charleston! We're giving him time to settle in, figure out that he's safe and show us the personality that's hiding behind that slightly bewildered "Can I get another take?" school photo. 😂 What we DO know is that this handsome boy has already made it through a pretty scary start. Sammy came to use from Texas where his owner wanted to euthanize him due to a positive FIV test. FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) is a retrovirus that many cats carry, and it is absolutely not a death sentence. After initial infection, many cats remain asymptomatic for the remainder of their lives. FIV is not transmissible to humans, and cats with a positive FIV result are often housed with other cats who do not have the virus, as transmission occurs only through deep bites (NOT grooming, sharing bowls or water, shared litterboxes, etc.).
