Story
Jace is a 1½-year-old Shih Tzu/Poodle mix who weighs approximately 12 pounds. And let me tell you, this little guy has already had quite the makeover!
Jace came to us as an owner surrender, and we honestly don’t think this poor boy had ever had a haircut in his life. He had mats the size of baseballs encasing his feet, legs, tail, and head. And we’re not talking about a few tangles that needed brushing out. This was SIX HOURS of work by TWO people just to free him from all that hair. You could practically see the relief once all that mess was gone. And underneath it all was this absolutely adorable little dog who just wants someone to love on him.
And boy, does he LOVE to be held! You know how you hold a baby up against your chest, with their little head over your shoulder, like you’re going to burp them? Well, that’s Jace’s favorite position! He will happily let you carry him around like your own furry little baby. He gives the sweetest hugs, and we’re pretty sure he’d be perfectly content if someone just carried him around all day.
Jace does well with other small dogs. He will bark occasionally, but he’s not one of those little guys who feels the need to narrate every single thing happening in the neighborhood. He seems to do fine on a leash and in a crate, although he hasn’t shown himself to be destructive, so crating may not even be necessary.
We’re still waiting on a few more details from his foster regarding potty training, larger dogs, and some of his other habits. But so far, he’s proving to be a really sweet little fellow!
Jace is now completely groomed, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to find his forever family. There is one thing we’re going to be very particular about with his new home. Jace will need professional grooming approximately every 6–8 weeks. Not just when he starts looking shaggy. Not just when someone gets around to it. Regular grooming is an absolute necessity for a dog with his type of coat.
So, if you’re looking for a sweet, adorable little fellow who gives fantastic hugs, loves being your baby, and comes with a freshly revealed face under all that hair, Jace might just be your guy!

His minimum adoption donation amount is $375. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives.
We are located in Bloomington, IL
We do not ship, you would need to travel to pick up your babies if you live out of state.
Your current pets must be up-to-date on core vaccines, spayed/neutered, and on heart worm prevention year round. You must be at least 21-years-old to adopt.
